Computer AI knowledge

to the developers -

Can we get away from the Computer "knowing" where all the good planets are? Same thing where resrouces - computer should NOT know where the resrouces are to be harvested.

I mean come on - I thought that was a big hack and unfair advantage the computer had.

Please tell me Galciv 2 will be different.

Bump - still awaiting answer.

hint) interesting to hear what they have focused on improving . Maybe via a journal entry?

> If you want to maximize replayability - don't give the CPU this advantage - that way its is random how fast the cpu will expand (just like a normal human).

g that makes it "dumber". If SD can implement an AI that isn't all knowing but is just as smart, then I'm all for it!

Here here ---Star Pilot. "All knowing AI" should only be on the Hardest levels.

Totally Agree with you.

Bumping again because it seems the AI is allowed to "cheat" again.

I've been playing the beta and all races (save the humans - or your custom race) can't start with stellar catography.
To answer your question (as far as I can), Brad Wardell has stated in another thread:Link

The AI still has to deal with the fog of war. That was the case in GalCiv 1 and it will be more so the case in GalCiv 2. Whether the AI will know the locations of yellow stars or not is of some discussion still.

obviously it was discussed. Brad - there SHOULD be an option to Not let the Computer AI opponents have stellar cartograhy. In addition, the computer shouldn't know where any anomalies are or other empires, or enemy fleets it can't "see".

Be wary, currently the Torians have sensor +30%, meaning the sensors for any of their ship is at least 30. And this means that they can see lots of races on small map and initiate tech exchange.

I've been playing the beta and all races (save the humans - or your custom race) can't start with stellar catography.

What are you exactly meaning? I know that humans haven't stellar cartography, as well as some aliens races. If you want, your custom race can start with stellar cartography.

I think I read in an interview that only humans won't know where the best planets are. Not 100% sure, though.

Not sure if I am missing it, but I have been playing other than human, quite a bit and I believe I can safely vouch that the AI has a better chance of finding suitable planets for colonies, although I can not see how they would know which planet is golden just that this star has this amount of planets. Which if far better than the hoomans who only have the phrase "A star to guide by".

Brad has said that the non-human AI (maybe not in the final public build though, but at least in the latest internal ones) can only see where planets are, via the cartography tech. It still has to go look at them to find out if they're any good.

See development journals.  AI no longer knows where good planets are (changed after last public beta).
