Everyday Heros...Whos yours?

have a story about a Hero in your life ?... share them here ...

My story begins about 7 months ago. My mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer and was given between 1 week to a year to live. When we heard the news my wife, while juggleing a part time job and 4 kids, took every spare moment to care for mom and see to her every need.

I would go to work at 6:00AM and she would be up with me getting the kids breakfast and off to school. Then drive over to mom's house and take her to radiation therapy, do whatever shopping mom needed done (the cancer was in her brain so mom could no longer drive) and help mom with various chores around the house. She would then get home just in time *1:45PM* to greet my daughter as she climbed off the school bus. While waiting for the other kids to get home, she would clean the house and get ready to cook dinner.(she would cook extra and take it to mom). when i got home at 6:00PM she would be finishing eating as she got ready to head out to work. she would be at work til 11:00PM. and would get to bed at 12:00..this was her daily routine 5 days a week for about 6 mo's, til mom passed..she never once had a complaint , her only concern was making sure mom was happy and felt loved..

This is why she will always be a Hero to me ....

HG, I would say your wife is one of those special types of people that are fairly rare in this day and age. She is indeed your hero.

Eliminator - what a story. She is a hero!

I had a friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer. She needed a mastectomy. While talking to her about how she felt about it she said, "well, it'll be easier to bring wood in for the fire." That's when she became my hero.

My Mother and Father inlaws both passed away due to cancer, I know first hand what it takes to care for someone to their last with this illness...

My father inlaw passed away first, small cell lung cancer, a year and a half after being diagnosed.
About a year later my mother inlaw was telling my wife about a massive pain in her breast and an erie discoloration (purple) that had been going on for about a month. My wife taked her to the emergency room where her mother is diagnoised as terminal...

My personal belief is that my Mother inlaw no longer wanted to live and that is why she refused to go to the doctor when the problem first arose, but I dare not mention that sentiment to my wife..

Your wife has definitely earned "Hero" status...

That's quite a wife you have, HG. Definitely one in a million.

Sorry to hear about your mother, though.
