The Anoma1y!

Richt click on one of the existing icons on your dock. You will see "Dock entry properties")Clik on it. In the opened window you will see section change icon! Click on it and new window with available icons will open. Chose icon you like and finish it with OK.
If you want to create (add) new icon to the dock go to settings and section "create" In new window you will see section "add new shortcut" After you added it a question mark will appear on your dock! Right click on it and select Dock entry properties > change icon and proceed as discribed above.

Hope this will help!

Does anyone know how to take screen shots of your desktop with object dock included in the picture? I've used various screen capture programs and they all seem to leave object dock out! Please help me out...

I had the same problem because I tried it with Snagit7. But didn't make it!Because of Alpfa blending! I have posted my concern on the message board under section general (there you will see some advices. Before all try it with hoverdesk (freeware) assuggested by some mebmers!
Anyhow I figured it out with Microsoft paint and Win XP!
You press on your keyboard first "alt" and then "Print scrn" Open your paint! Press first ctrl and then V key. Your print will appear in paint. If you print it out it will be to large. So you have to compress it. Open the window file on the left uper page of the "paint" window. Select "save as" under my files/pictures. Convert it from bmp to jpg and save. After you will reopen it it will appear that message "the bitmap is to large" you quit it with yes and irfanview will open with compressed file . You you can print it out. This is my way I figured it out!

The thing I most long for is for additional functionality in the flyout menus. Specifically, I would like some kind of right-click context menu on flyout items. If I have a "My Documents" flyout, for example, I would like to navigate to a folder, then right-click on it and choose "open folder" from there. Or go to a file on the flyout and choose "open with". Basically, the same menu that you have when you click on a docked icon. Something to integrate that menu better with explorer-style navigation. At the moment, all I use them for is for the control panel, since it has just one level of program choosers. I would really really love to use them as an alternative to dock tabs.

One question I am hiding my windows taskbar and I want to know how I can put the "turn off computer button into object desktop
Reply #30 Top
Xevallah:

1: You can change the order of the tabs by going to the "Configure Dock" menu (you should have a shortcut to it on your Dock somewhere, otherwise right-click on an empty spot on your dock and go to "Dock settings". From there you choose "Tabs & Styles". You will see a little list with all your tabs in your Dock and besides it two buttons (Add Tab and Remove Tab) underneath that you see two little arrows. Click (in the list) onto the tab you want to move and then use these two little arrows to move it up or down.

2: If you want to remove those icons you have to hold town the left mouse button and DRAG (while keeping the mouse-button pressed) the icon from the dock.

3: the newest version has already a (limited) magnifying capacity for tabbed docks.

thedoors27: Here's some that will do the trick for ya!

AndreasV's Shutdown (only) docklet: http://www2.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=2349&LibID=29

This one will bring up the dialog window to shut down: http://www2.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=4599&LibID=29

And if you want more... http://www2.wincustomize.com/Skins.aspx?LibID=29&view=1&sortby=4&sortdir=DESC&p=1&advanced=0&searchtxt=shutdown

I also need to find a windows start as all the ones i have downloaded wont work, and also a show desktop as simply putting hte icon in the objectdock doesnt work.
Yeah, not having a start menu and a taskbar led me not to having OD all by itself on my desktop. But here ya go anyway:

Emmbi's full start menu docklet: http://www2.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=4602&LibID=29

And another (I can't find Andreas' docklet for this for some reason)... http://www2.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=2264&LibID=29

And just a note, the icon itself won't link to the Start Menu, but those docklets will do it for ya!

As I dont want to use windows start bar anymore I have a small problem with msn messenger. When I click X on my contact list window I cannot sign out as it doesnt go into the show programs running space on my objectdock, so i have to show windows taskbar again and sign out of messenger like that. What can i do?

I do believe that the KKMenu docklet can be configured to display the system tray, but it's a pain in the butt and it looks bad. However, OD+ displays the system tray perfectly, so you cooould get that

OD+ doesn't display the system tray perfectly. In fact I can't get it to display it at all. I've tried everything listed here and they only thing I get is an empty dock that jumps to fill half the screen when I mouse over it. So far I can't say as how I'd recommend this over some of the other docks that are out there.

I only just got OD+ the other day, and i have to admit it looks pretty damn cool. However i seem to be encountering quite a severe problem. Sometimes when i put my mouse over the zooming taskbar my computer power just turns off and this results in my PC restarting. Is this likley to be a hardware or softare problem ?

My computer specs are...
Athlon 2700xp
Radion 9800 graphis card
512 MB
Windows xp

Here's a little system tray tutorial that I whipped up quickly. I hope it helps! Clicking on the thumbnails will allow you to access the bigger pictures (I love ImageHost.org)

1) First off, get to My Docks by right-clicking on any dock or the dock's system tray icon.

2) Make a tabbed dock by clicking its button (maybe starting with a fresh dock won't give you a strange error like that)

3) Next, go to the Tabs & Styles section on the left column, and go Add Tab - Add a system tray tab

4) Finally, it should appear, and you can also customize those ugly 16x16 icons to much better ones.

Now the first step goes for a normal dock as well.

1) Make a new one just like you did with the tabbed dock (or just open up the configuration window for your existing one).

2) Head over to the Dock Contents tab and look for the "Show system tray icons in dock" option

3) Then, it should appear! I'd probably keep it a lot smaller, but for the sake of learning that size does the trick. I hope this clears up any problems!

DoctorNick,

I hate to say it, but I tried all of that, even before I posted and everytime I try to get it to do anything with the tray all I get is a blank dock. Doesn't matter if it's tabbed or regular. Nothing seems to help. Does it matter on which side of my screen I normally have my taskbar?

Re: System tray. From the readme --

The Stardock MCP (sdmcp.exe) must be running to use
the tabbed Tray to display system tray items. It
is included with this installer and as part of
Stardock Central. If this is the first install
of ObjectDock Plus, a reboot will be needed to
start displaying most system tray icons.

Ok, just realized that was my problem. My next question then is whether or not anyone has noticed a problem with their browser since installing OD+? For some odd reason my firefox is really laggy now with objectdock running. Has anyone else had a similar problem and found a way to remedy it?

Fixed it. One of my extensions was causing the grief... Works slick as a whistle now.

Anyone know how I can get my internet connection status into objectdock? i have seen a screenshot of someone with it in there but I dont know how as dragging and dropping doesnt work.
Joenavran - I thought it was fixed but it's not again. Seems to be a very sporadic thing. If I could just get that licked I should be in business.... Anyone with any suggestions?

I'll take the "Tell us what you'd like to see" by the word:

Whenever I drag a file or scrap object from one app to the taskbar, the task hovered above will pop into the foreground so that I can drag my stuff to the application more precisely.

I want the same with ObjectDock: If I drag something onto an item in Object Docks task list, I want that item top front.
