Hey Frogboy,

I think the best way to start is to tell you that I absolutley LOVE OD+. And as a result I have started skinning with it, so I should probably thank you, because of OD+ me (mediocre) knowledge of photoshop has quadrupled .

Anyway, as far as problems with OD+ go, I have very few and only notice them rarely. The only problem I ever run into with the running of object dock itself occurs with the fly-out menus. Its rather hard to explain so bear with me. When I open a fly out menu, and then close it (any way that causes the icons to move back down), It leaves a "shadow" of the icon which was in the middle of the menu. This shadow is very hard to see....but basically its like having the icon be 95% transparent. The only way to get rid of it that I've found is to close out OD+. Its not a major issue but I thought I'd let you know.

I was wondering, (and I'm sure you've heard this one before, if there were any plans to make a tabbed dock that zooms. I personally wouldn't use it but I would like the option to .

I also had a couple of suggestions, things that would make things a little easier from a skinners perspective.
I'd like a way to change the color of the selected tab's text as opposed to the non-selected one. Thus having another way to distinguish the selected one.
I'd also like to have the ability to make the tab text show up in italics, bold and underlined (in the .ini).
I don't know if this one is at all possible, but I've run into issues (in some of my more experimental backgrounds which I haven't posted) where I would try to resize a tab and just couldn't do it without deforming the tab. For example, I had a tab with a drop shadow on it, and I tried to move the tab to one side so the text would be in the color portion of it, and not in the drop shadow, but for some reason the tab would not budge.

As I read over what I just wrote, I sound like I'm complaining a lot, I didn't mean to make it sound that way so I would just like to remind you that I really do LOVE OD+ and am very pleased with it overall.
Thanks for making this post, I think it could lead to some really cool ideas by others.

Sincerely,
Chinmon

Hey Frogboy,

there is one issue I'd like to post. The same I have basically directed to Chinmon and I hope that united you could both save my problem which is as follows:
Let's resume:
In the basis OD version (Freeware)you could create dock and position it on top/right/bottom/left resp. wherever you wanted. But you could create one dock only. To this dock you have added the corresponding icons which were linked with corresponding programs O.K.
So you started your PC and your desktop appears with tab and icons visible on top(position where I put the doks)and icons glew when you passed over with mouse.
So far O.K.! After I have opened any program, let's say internet, the internet window covered the tabs and icons and you couldn't see them. But after I passed over with the mouse on the top of the window the icons became visible again and is it as it should be.The tabs and icons shall be always on the back side of any opened window.

For OD+ I've created one dock (I'm talking about ordinary docks not about tabbed docks)on top and one on the right and have also added the corresponding icons related (linked) to corresponding programs. O.K.
I opened any program, let's say in this case also internet. Opened internet page has not covered in this case like in the basic version the tabs/icons. These are in the front of the window visible. If I wanted to acces the symbol tray on the top of the window the tabs cover the symbol tray and I dont have acces to the symbols resp. I can't close the window/minimize or do resize it or do anything on the symbol tray. Hope you understand!
What I want is to have is the tabs/icons when I open one window , on the backside of any opened window.

The settings that Chinmon proposed are probably related to some other functions and which I can't find.
What I find in the positioning section are:
Top/Left/Right/Bottom (Autohide)
Alignment (Center/Left/Right)
Z-ordering (Always on top/Always on Bottom/Normal Z-Ordering)

I hope I could explain to you the problem properly as otherwise the OD+ is not usable.

Hope you can advise!

I have a hard time navigating on PCs without OD+ now, I have grown so used to it. I have one normal dock for running apps, one four-tab dock for this and that, one system tray tab dock and two (long) single tab docks for task orientated apps. Everything istakes at my fingertips.

My only problem is that the "always-on-top" functionality falls off some tabs, some times. Restarting OD+ care of it . . . but it's a pain.

Any thoughts?

Frogboy,

I have created a problem in my OD+. I was doing some hard drive housekeeping and must have deleted a file that OD+ needs. When I right-click on my OD, I get an error that says:

"ObjectDock.exe - Unable to Locate Component"

"This application has failed to start because SysStatsCOM.DLL was not found."

I uninstalled and then reinstalled OD+ and it still can't find the .dll. Do you know what this file is and how I can fix this?

Thanks

Ed

@ Ed. SysStatsCOM.DLL is from the sysstats docklet. It is included in the Sysstas download from here: https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=4271&LibID=29&comments=1
This .dll should be put in the ObjectDock file. If you are not using Sysstats this will still stop that error message.
I hope this helps.

OD+ is a great proggie, easy to use and easy to skin. I would like to see some options added to the customization aspect of it....

Tab Fonts: make them editable and also have separate text attributes (color and shadow) for the selected tab and unselected tab.

Make tagging uniform between tabbed and zoomer docks. Tagging for tabbed docks is a lot more flexible.

Might sound silly 'cause it's pretty easy to skin using a text editor, but have the Pro version of SkinStudio be able to create OD+ skins and test them. This would help make setting margins on more complex tabbed docks easier.

That's all I got....really great program, if you haven't bought the plus version, you are missing out.

Hello,

I am a weak old now on wincustomize and objectdock plus. I have been poking around a little but I have some questions that I have not found the answers too. Can someone help? When I click "Show Desktop" icon on my dock, it also is hidden. I saw in the readme file about turning the autohide on and off but I don't understand how to do this. Is there a way that I can keep my docks up even when I press "Show Desktop?" Thanks for your help. This is a great product!

Hello,

Does anyone know how to take screen shots of your desktop with object dock included in the picture? I've used various screen capture programs and they all seem to leave object dock out! Please help me out...

Hi Maralahal,

No, currently there's nothing that can be done about the docks hiding when "Show Desktop" is pressed. We're looking into seeing if there is a way to get around that though, we'll have to see what turns up

Thanks I'm glad you're enjoying OD+

Update: Figured it out! In the next release, AlwaysOnTop and AlwaysOnBottom docks (and tabbed docks) will no longer be hidden when WinKey+D is pressed (There is an option to return to the old behavior of them hiding in the advanced options)

Sometime in January for the next "official", however early next week we're hoping to get a "beta" of it out on StardockCentral

I love ObjectDock+. One suggestion is for hotkeys to bring a dock on the screen. The auto hide with activation with the mouse hot zone is nice, but depending on where I put the dock, unless I put a long delay, I often get a dock to pop up when I do not want it by moving my mouse to close to the edge of the screen. It would be nice to have the ability to assign a hot key to each dock as an alternative, so pressing key combinations would bring a dock forward. Another good option would be to require some kind of mouse click. For example, maybe you have to click a mouse button when the mouse is at the edge of the screen. This would avoid having an autohiding dock show up accidentally.

why is that whenever you press the desktop button the OD disapears ? i thought that the release of 1.05 would fix that, but no. is that impossible to override ? or no one noticed that yet ? cheers

I am having difficulty applying themes, icons, or anything downloaded from WinCustomize to my dock. After downloading it does not file to Object Dock in the Object Desktop/theme manager files? Please help as I have downloaded a few and I am anxious to apply and see the changes. Possibly I am not handling the download correctly and where I file it. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

webstersdictionary, if you have OD+ click on the "configure Dock", then click on "my Docks" (lower left corner). Add another Dock from there. Once the new dock is created just click on "Dock contents" and choose "show system tray icon on the dock". If you want a dock just containing the system tray, you can now delete all the default icons on this dock.

You can also add a tab containing the systray on your tabbed dock by just right-clicking on the dock > Tabs > Add new Tab > Add systray tab.

Hi all, I need some help with OD+...bear in mind im a noob to the community.

1. How can I change the order of the tabs?
2. I cant seem to delete the Systats and Task Manager Dock (The Dock Icon)...right clicks dont offer the ability to remove entry and holding down the left click does nothing.
3. I dont think you can do this, but I would love the option in a later OD+ release to be able to have the magnify zoom ability for icons in tabbed docks.
