PurrBall PurrBall

Now this is getting really crazy and annoying.

Now this is getting really crazy and annoying.

As you can see, I've changed my nick, and now I just changed directories to my root folder in the C drive, taken out letters in the filenames, and LOOK: my skin still isn't getting through the system. It says an error has occured. It just keeps saying that. How loopy is that? Oter peoples bootskins are going. > I'll email it to someone if this keeps up. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

Meowy ....this is where you say 'thankyou Jafo for taking the time to clearly determine why I have consistently failed to upload my bootskin which prompted this thread.  I appreciate your effort, particularly as it is voluntary.'

Nudge, nudge.....wink....

You mean all this time, the problem was renaming bmp's to jpg?

/me thinks Meowy may be choking on a hairball, and therefore cannot answer you Jafo?
A fine job of detective work though!!!

Too much Monty Python's. "Know what I mean. Say no more. Nudge nudge. Wink Wink"

Where did Meowy go?

Three strikes and you're out, I say...

Or is that not how the game is played down in Oz?

I think Meowy has changed his .cat extention to .dog and has ceased to function. A re-boot (of the hob-nailed variety) should cure this

No. In Oz you stand your ground when out and hope the umpire wasn't paying attention...

Jafo, it is indeed a JPEG image... Too bad I can't show you a screen shot of what I see when I put my mouse over the icon, it says: Type: JPEG Image Size: 900 K

Okay, I resaved and the quality went down, hopefully soon, I will be laughing!

Oh ,I didn't see those, but now I am... Now I am.... Now I'm laughing!!! I really do appreciate your effort, particularly as it is voluntary. Also, Phoon, I could say I was coughing up a hairball last weeekend as I was coughing so hard and my throat was sore that what else could it be other than me being sick?? I've recovered from my hair throwing fit, though now.

Again thank you for your voluntary detective work Jafo, where would I be right now without you?

Meowy...

No it ain't.

The way I checked was in 'quickview' it showed as an image [I could see it]...so 'assumed' it really was a jpg....but quickview simply recognised it as an image.

It failed to load into PSP6...as its error was 'incorrect file format'.

I manually changed the suffix to 'bmp' [the hint was the file size] and it loaded correctly into PSP.

I saved-as 'jpg' and got a correctly small file size. [even with minimal compression for quality].

THAT image I uploaded and without problem/failure.

Try it yourself...rename to bmp....edit in graphic proggy...save-as jpg....see what happens.

Mouse-over will only 'read' the suffix...which says 'jpg'.

You can name a doc or a txt or anything something else but it won't change what it is.

Don't compare this with 'wba' wsz' 'lsz' 'bootskin', etc....they are ALL genuine renamed 'zip'.....their relevant proggies are coded to recognise them as zips intended for them and not for another proggy....that's all.

Image formats of which there are hundreds are not renamed anythings...they are each different ways of making a picture.....like a book and a film are different ways of telling a story.  You cannot call a book a film and watch it on television.....it'll still be a book....paper and ink and stuff...

Well then WHY did it say 'File Type: JPEG Image'? I did try with file types on, even though on the side panel says it was a JPEG and the hover over also did. I'll stop arguing here. And remember, ain't ain't a word, except if you live in Maine!

Try this....

Find a text file....'untitled.txt'.....rename the suffix 'jpg'.....ie. 'untitled.jpg'......then hover your cursor over it and see what it says.

If it says 'file type jpeg image' then give it a go by opening it in a graphic proggy....after all it's an image because windows says so....
