Isn't "Shareware" try BEFORE you buy?

Why do I have to pay to try out Blog navigator or Natural Desktop? I think these products are mislabeled.

Huh? What are you talking about?
First, there is a trial version of Blog Navigator, and it's free. Only the Pro version is not free.
Second, Natural Desktop is not really a software, but a Desktop X theme delivered as an executable. How can you have a trial version of a skin or theme?  Natural Desktop has never claimed to be software, let alone shareware.

paxx - in Stardock Central the two items are listed as "Shareware". I'll take a screenshot if you want. They don't have an update button like most other OD module, they have a download button that takes you to the purchase site. I don't mind paying for something, but if you offer something as shareware, I'd like to try it before I pay.

OK, I just checked, and you are right about Natural Desktop. It's probably an error, or it fell in a product category difficult to define. They both have a Download button, except that Natural Desktop brings you to the purchase web page, while for Blog Navigator, the download button brings you to CNet's download page.

For NaturalDesktop, after you buy it and enter your serial number it (the button)becomes install. Hab to reboot first though.

Perhaps once they get it working the way they want, they can provide a version that will only do half a day or that doesn't come with all it needs. However it is probably the case that there is no way to provide a trial version. Of course it shouldn't then be labeled as Shareware. I think it will be better once a video is available, that will help showcase it enough to give an idea of what you are purchasing.

Natural Desktop doesn't have a trial version, it's just the way it's presented in SDC. There's no real way to "try" it.  You either want what it does or you don't.  The time it would take to come up with some "trial" version of it would preclude it for being able to be sold for $8.

There's enough screenshots of it anyway, so it's not as though it going to look any different after you buy it.

Frogboy, he's just saying that on Stardock Central, Natural Desktop is labeled as "shareware", where by definition a shareware has at least a trial version. Maybe just need to fix how it's labeled on SDC.

just my 2 cents but why are these 2 new items not configurable to be hidden in sdc? no offense, and i'm sure these are great new additions, but i am not interested in them at this time. if intent was in fact not to let user hide new "shareware" in sdc, then i feel like they are being 'pushed' in the wrong way. hopefully new build of sdc will correct this?

The "shareware" needs to be removed from Natural Desktop, it's obviously a mistake.  As time goes on, that "Misc" section will have more things in it, and they won't all be free or shareware.

Yea, it will require a coding update to SDC.
