Are Stardock apps XPSP-2 friendly?

I recently did a clean install of XP Pro and installed SP2. Almost everything appeared to be funtioning properly so I opened Stardock Central and starting my installs. I loaded DesktopX 1.9 beta and that was a disaster. Most of my objects and widgets did not work or crashed DX all together. Even ing the "about" button caused a DX crash. I also noticed that IconX was gone. Is that supposed to be gone? I removed it and decided to wait for DX 2.2. ObjectDock Plus 1.04 build 470 is not working out either. If I click anywhere on my desktop, OB plus appears in the taskbar and disappears if I anywhere else. It also shuts down randomly. Windows FX 2.2 randomly kills all my effects, shadows, etc., etc. and then they show up again. I really dont want to load anything else like WB until I know where all this is coming from. My PC has never had any real trouble driving this stuff before.

Athlon XP 2800 Barton processor, 1 gig corsair XMS ram. ATI 9800 pro video card, Audigy 2 sound.

any suggestions would be appreciated

After the new install of xp then sp2 defrag, I found it knocks the hell out of the hdd once installed. I had to clear the prefetch files and it was much better once these were done, just make sure you didn't turn of Task Schedular service.

IconX is gone from DesktopX install as IconX is a standalone installer, still useable.
WB works fine with SP2, try download OD+ again there was some issues thats been fixed IIRC.
Latest DX beta works fine with SP2 but I see your problem with the "about tab" for 2.19o though 2.19p fixed that appart from that it is stable. If your objects and such are crashing did you make them? if so they might need updated if you ran 1.9. WindowsFX is working fine aswell under SP2, what Catalyst drivers you running perhaps it might be that?? updated your sound drivers aswell, possibility?

Thanks for the tips. Wow! you were right about the need to defrag after SP2 install. It made a major difference. I have the latest catalyst drivers for my ATI card and also for the Audigy 2 so I assume I'm good there. I noticed that DesktopX 2.19q[b].002 was made available today so I installed that and it is much better (the "about" tab crash is fixed now too). I noticed that the DesktopX configuration menu shows up now after every reboot. I'm not knowledgeable enough yet to create my own objects but I hope to try in the near future.

ObjectDock Plus is good except for the taskbar item always popping up when I click on the desktop.

WindowsFX is working great now.
I think I'll get Windowblinds loaded up.
Again, thanks for the help vf

Where can I get IconX as a seperate item?

Ummm...what exactly is that? I looked all over Stardocks website and found nothing.

-Ohhhh. Stardock Central. I checked and there is no IconX listed there.

Thanks for the link.
Is there a difference between purchasing Object Desktop and gradually purchasing each app seperately over time? I have just about all apps from OD except Skin Studio and now, of course, IconX. Is that why it does not show up in my Stardock Central? I'm a bit bummed that I have to pay $10 more now to have IconX when I used to get it thru DesktopX. I really don't mind paying for it as I've payed more than $49.95 for what I already have and consider it a more than worthy investment. Oh well.....I'm off to click another "buy" button.

Hmm, You really should have gone for an OD subsription instead of buying each single app . -)

You have other SD applications so the price is not $49.95, it would be $34.95. https://www.stardock.com/order.asp that is definitely the way to go.

Just my 2ยข worth,
Jeff
