Eliminate Lycos Sidesearch ??

My niece allowed a bunch of spyware to enter her computer, and only now is she getting smart about it. Specifically, the Lycos Sidesearch is making her crazy, in that every time she surfs the web, or tries to search for something, that stinkin' Lycos pops up and brings her system to a crawl. So far, she's tried omnispy, aol spysearch, spybot search and destroy and bazooka, but nothing is getting rid of it. I told her I'd pose this question to the computer gurus here. Any ideas? ASAP would be good TIA

Pest Patrol will detect and remove Lycos Side Search. Their web page here http://www.pestpatrol.com/PestInfo/l/lycos_sidesearch.asp also gives instructions for manually removing it. Good Luck.

Also, try emptying temp files, temp internet files and history.. then run the de-spyware tools.
Might try Adaware also.
I just dealt with someones sytem which had over 1000 spyware pgms on it. Couldn't get it all off until I did the above steps...

Thanks, Phoon. I just ICQ'd her the suggestion. I'll post back her progress in case anyone is interested, and who also has lots of devious and immoral junk on thier computers. Sheesh.......... Some people have absolutely no scruples. Give 'em money and they'll gladly ruin anyone's computer. >
