WB illegal

On win98se, I am having serious serious serious serious serious serious serious serious serious serious serious serious problems with WB. Every time I open a program twice without rebooting inbetween, it gives me an illegal operation, and the the proggy isn't skinned. Then when I open a any program at all no matter if I haven't opened it, it gives me an illegal operation and then it isn't skinned either. How2fix?

OK...first...don't say serious again.

Now....what version of WB, what does the error message say (and don't say 'Illegal') and was this setup working prior to today...

I am compelled not to help because you left a nasty and immature message on one of my skins.

but, It's probably internet explorer (if you use it) I am stuck with windows 98 at work and I get that every once in a awhile. I don't have any stardock products on that computer. When it first started happening a couple years ago I went through the whole Dell award winning support run around. I got nowhere. I did the whole aol support run around and got nowhere. I just got fed up with the 2 helpful support groups. I never re4ally resolved it but I did come away knowing it was internet explorer related. I just got used to it. Now that I got rid of aol it hasn't happened since. Even though you may not be using explorer it still may be effecting your system. Thats all.

That's not a good thing...

Here's my two cents:

Considering it's been going on since March...updating was the last thing I would have suggested. Since this is a four month old problem, it makes it a little hard to put a finger on it. My guess is that some program is faulting the memory section that WB is using....see if you can narrow it down to one program that sets it off and then exclude it from WB.

Hmmm, sure you should be only using 3.5 on 98...

From the WB4 site...WindowBlinds 4 will run on Windows 98*, ME*, 2000, and Windows XP. * Requires WindowBlinds 4.2 or later.

Your biggest problem is your OS. 98 needs no help to go crash crazy.

win98se

The updates never work right(so don't tell me to). I have tried reinstalling. I reinstalled IE. No fix. It isn't one prog. It is wb itself not working correctly.

I am not updating my os. I will wait until my 500Mhz processor is 8x slower than the latest.

Apparently you'll be updating by December then. Thats Intel's target month for the 4 gig processor.

Wow, you mean I have six whole months before my new 3 Ghtz Pentium 4 upgrade is obsolete. Whoopie!!! >

I usually upgrade when the latest greatest is 3x faster than mine, that's about when the recommended minimum processor speed equals what I'm running on new software. So I'll be with XP and my 3gig until there's a 9gig. Then I'll jump on the Longhorn (it's gotta be out by then ) bandwagon

This is the official answer from the Stardock Website.

Solution #3: https://www.stardock.com/support.asp is the place to go for technical support for your Stardock software. There you'll find support documentation, an FAQ, an address of the Stardock News Server and the email address for Stardock Technical Support have a nice day

This whole thread reads like:

"I want help, but I'm not going to try any of the things you suggest."

Pathetic. W2k will run fine on a 500Mhz proc. Still running 98 today is just begging for problems...

At work I run a dual boot W98 / XP pc. I ended up removing WB from the W98 machine simply because it doesn't have the GDI resources to run WB later than 3.5. It's not a problem with WB, just inadequacies with W98

/me issues subliminal message... *UPDATE NOW...*

Maybe I am naive, or do not have a clue, but why would someone leave a nasty immature comment on a skin? What would be the point? It is not like a skin is a piece of spyware that screws up your computer. If you don't like it, just let the skinner know, that would be what I would do.

Hmmm...It seems this guy needs a technician. He seems also a little sensitive about his computer. Sometimes it is best to let go of the past and move on.
