Anyone know if you can get the Windows task manager to come up other than using the three finger salute(alt-ctrl-delete?) My sister has the Sasser worm and she can't get the task manager to come up......any ideas?

She knows a neighbor that has a computer......which is fine and good. To briefly change the subject....when she can access the net, it will take her to perfectnav.com and then can not find server.

Final Marching Orders:
That is one of Sassers MO''s...unfortunately some other highjack worms have the same signature. She needs to get the removal tool and if she can burn that patch to a CD. The link China gave and the one I gave will both work (actually China''s is better). The thing she wants to do is install that patch in safe mode if she has to and then run the removal tool or she could get it back after removal and before she patches. Then scan the hell out of the system, because I think there are more there (although the removal tool may get them all). Do not forget to dump all the system restore files and then disable it while she''s doing all this. Let us know.

Sorry carolelee, but I have no idea what I'm doing on this one. I got the patch installed before I got the virus, so no worries here. Sorry I cant help more.

Ok, Donna has a floppy(with fix) now, does she install the floppy before safe mode or after?

She should be able to re-boot with the floppy in the drive. If it gives her an invalid disk prompt, she needs to remove floppy and can either re-boot into Safe Mode or full Windows and Insert the disk and execute the tool on the floppy.
