Start 11 v.2 Menu Groups

Can't Add Icons to Start Menu Groups

I can't seem to add any icons to any group on the Start 11 Menu.  go to New > Pin Installed Application and choose the app and nothing happens. How do I get a program icon on a group?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more details.

  1. You on Windows 10 or 11? Also need Windows full version and OS Build number. Use Winver.exe.
  2. Need to know Start11v2 full version number installed.
  3. Screenshot or video on how you actually trying to pin installed application.

Thank you,

I can not reproduce your issue on my system. Refer to my short video below.

Would like to suggest, uninstall Start11v2, reboot immediately (important), download Start11v2.53, available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

No change at all.

Do you have any other application running in the background which also change how your Start panel or Explorer work.

Also, please do this test if you have Windows Pro version: https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1416855562/Testing+Start+in+Sandbox. See if the issue still appear while in Sandbox.

I am not using Sandbox. Last time we used this it was a royal pain in the butt to get everything running. I have nothing else running that alters Start panel that I know of. Last time we troubleshot I found the problem and you did nothing with that info anyway. So should I just use the windows troubleshooting process by turning shit on and off? Sandbox is more work than it is worth. I have nothing but freaking problems with Windows 11. Have redone my whole damn computer in the last year and continue to have weird things happen. It is the worst OS MS ever released IMO.

Working on this today and found that I CAN add icons the way I said, just NOT THE ONE I WAS TRYING TO ADD. It is an older program, but I am baffled as to why it won't add. I even tried creating a new shortcut to the file it opens and that one is not visible to add even though I paced it in the Programs folder. So why would certain shortcuts not have the ability to be added to the Start11 Menu? What would be different than other icons that I can add?? Does anyone have a clue?

More details on what you trying to add that don't work would greatly help us see why that specific file can not be added.

I need details on what you are asking for. The file is a shortcut file to open a program. I have compared it to shortcuts that work and I see nothing different.

Need to know the specific Program you're referring to. So that I can try to reproduce your issue on my system.

I doubt you have it. It is Professional Numerologist v. 5.2.2

I downloaded and installed it. And I pinned it without issue. Here is how I pinned it. After installing it, on my Start 11 menu (Windows App style), on the right column, there is "Recently Installed" list and "Professional Numerologist is listed there, right click on it and select pin to Start11 select which group to pin. Refer to my screenshot below.

I finally got this to work, but had to uninstall and reinstall the program. (I first tried a repair and that did not work.) Since I had no Recently Installed showing, I ended up creating a new shortcut and used the previous method to finally get it to show up on the Start 11 Menu. It still makes no sense why the original shortcuts did not work, but I have had enough of trying to figure this out. It works now. So thanks for the assistance.
