Dp you have to paurchase Skin Studio to save your work and apply it..

Well im back..! Ok ..Heres where I am at.. I have finally had my run at lite step and have installed it and have it running smoothly.. I have now also downloaded "Skin Studio." ( TheFree Version ) I stayed up all night read all the turtorials and learned all about designing and using the tools...I even made my 1st one. ( window Blind that is )....It looked really great too...Then I go to save it and it wont let me. A pop up box said that I had to register it.(U know Purchase ) So my questions are this...Is there any way for me to save my designs or for me to apply the changes I make to them onto my desktop..I am designing Window Blinds and I can't even apply changes to see it on my desktop.. I am using the USI2 format. Also, I would like to know if some one can provide me with a link to that Turtle Soup "lite step theme" That HG_Eliminator has told me about...Please reply...if you have any knowledge that will answer my quetion ..I would really appreciate it...Hi ChinaCat

Yes you should be able to save your design as a WindowBlinds file. About the 5th icon from the left near the top of the skinstudio window should be and icon that looks similar to the WinZip icon. I believe that is the "Create Package" button. Try that and see if it works.

That is odd, you should be able to save with the free version.

This will only be true if you attempted to recolor the skin you were editing. the Free edition of SkinStudio does not allow for recoloring the skin and the recoloring (if attempted) needs to be applied before saving - resulting in a deadlock. I'll have it fixed in the next free version, in the mean time just go to "Coloring" tab and make sure it's reset (you may want to actually press the "Resset" button before saving).

I've just downloaded the free version and, other then this, I had no problems with saving WB skins modified in it.

recoloring the skin

you can always recolor the individual .bmp's in another graphics program

Heck, and i just found out how to change msstyles to WB, and change the window background color.

I'm still quite some time away from doing a complete WB skin.

Yep, the first WB skin is easy. Then you realize all the things that you did wrong, and the second skin takes twice as long. Then when the third skin comes along, they add more things to skin, and you realize all the things you did wrong on the first two skins. Then, you look at the work of those who have done many great skins, and the time you spend on that third skin is unfathomable. Yep, it was easy at first.

If you think about doing "great work", your first WB skin will not be that easy. Some of the things that these "Master" WB artists are doing, like Adni18 and Mormegil, are blowing my mind. And, I am working on my fourth WB skin. Because of this, I don't think I'll ever finish it. Wah!!!!
(Think Icons to match it, Windows Media Player Skin to match, sysmetrix to match, Logon to match, Cursor to match, and then tell me its easy)

I think that SkinStudio makes the process of creating a WB skin easy...maybe that is all that he meant. I know that for me it was easy to figure out how to use it, but do to my lack of graphical talent, I may never be able to create something that is worth uploading here
