Amamax new site look competition

Amamax, an online computer part retail site would like to get a new look for their web site, and are holding a competition. The winner of the competition wins a new computer case with a power supply (according to the information on their site).

I thought that this would be a good place to post this little snippet of information because there is more artistic talent running around loose on this site than you can shake a stick at. I mean that sincerely

Now if it was an alienware case...
However I do think I will submit something. I still have a an old site template arround here and need to lose that anyway. ( they will be surprised if they see the shipping costs to holland )

I honestly had no intention of offending anyone when I made this post.

I thought that this may be a good opportunity for someone who is just getting started to maybe get some small reward for their efforts, as well as a bit of recognition. Besides which, most of the people here put many hours of work into their art for absolutely no reward at all.

I apologise for having offended.

hey keith, no offense to any one, theyre just laughing at the fact that to get a pro to make a site for you, you hafta pay a couple of benjamins, theyre only offering 80$ worth, ya know, its kinda funny. anyway, no offense taken.

Hey, somebody should pop together a quick design made in Paint to show them where 80$ gets them.

Oh, or maybe I could hold a competition open to all companies building new computers. They are all to send me their best computer, and for the winner I will make an animted GIF to place on their web site, for a maximum value of 80$...

I don't mean to sound negative, but why is everyone jumping in and slamming on this?  There are a lot of people out there that don't have much money but have time to do stuff (especially unemployed people who still like tech stuff). 

Let's not create a place where people feel that they can't post stuff like this.  This may interest somebody.  Plus, they can then add to their resume "made graphics for Amamax website".  An $80 case is not insulting to somebody who wants it and has time to kill making graphics.

I find 80$ insulting. And it's abuse. It's like offering 50 cents to a kid to mow my lawn.

They make money from that web site and all they are willing to pay for a design is a 80$ case, that they probably pay 25. I find it disgusting.  They are no better than the leaches who come here and expect everything for free.

At best their off of $80 in value is grossly naive, at worst it's an indication of the 'standard of input' they are looking for.

It really does look like 'something for [almost] nothing....but if anyone thinks it's beneficial to themselves to be/get involved then go for it.

It's not unlike being a Motor Race Official and after 10 years [40 days] of voluntary effort/input getting a little plaque for your efforts.....[though in this case everyone gets the plaque....with the site contest there's only one winner, the rest can say goodbye to there effort/work]...

I agree with paxx......... they'll get possibly hundreds of designs, and it'll cost them next to nothing.
