how are screen shots ranked ?

this true but the mods i do take time ... im not just taking default items and posting a screen shot .. all of my screens include modified items that i have been practiceing graphics editing on...and yes while im not a "skinner" i am trying to learn from others graphics. and these screens is how i get feed back on my progress .

Ohh...so that's what the rating is for. Seems sketchy. I think you should be able to rate desktop screenshots in profiles as well.

the only thing that irks me is if the screen has a rating below 8 nobody can see it without going through your profile or a direct link. Therefor very few people can rate it. Sometimes the screen could get a higher rating if more people rated it.

i realize most of you dont hold screen shots in high reguard, u must realize that i dont post generic screen shots. the modifications i do are more than just implementing different app skins to make a matching theme. in my latest screen shot i took beaded for cool player and ported it to sysmetrix, recolored it, added new functions,modified the buttons, the same with the litestep theme, as well as the WB skin.

WOM since servers are down the screen shot section cant be seen by most unless they are a rank 8 or above. so basically none of the screens i have posted in the last month have been seen...i deleted a couple out of fustration....

any time it just frusterates me that screens with lil to no modifications are getting high ranks. while those with time consumeing mods are getin lower ones.. the thredz screen i posted. took a lot of time to make the weather meter, calandar. not to mention get the DX theme up and running with the new DX version...

HGE........I like your thredz set up and you have obviously put a lot of thought into it........Take a 9 and its upped you a notch to an 8

I judge screenshots by asking myself one question - "Do all the components that have been put into the Screenshot come together into a good looking suite or setup" - I look at everything and i mean everything in the screenshot. I love the browsing the Screenshot section because i see components there that i have never seen before like a Winamp skin or a Rainy skin and it gives me food for thought when i come to do my own set ups.........Although right now i just cannot find anything that fits my eye so perfectly than Pixtudios Abracadabra suite........I drop it for a few days and use something else but like a magnet it draws me back and i just got to have my Abracadabra fix again.......even more so since Everaldo bought out his Crystal MX icons which fit into the suite like a glove

OK.....as it is i would give it a 6.........to get it up to a 9 (in my eyes i hasten to add) i would use the WB and Sysmeter as the base and scrap everything else. BTW nice job on the Sysmeter. Now lets get it to rock - lets see a Start Panel with some matching icons....recolour a set if you want......dump the GT2 wall.....sorry Tiggz nothing personal - that wall is terrific but i like it with the GT2 suite only.....there are better walls to go with your two base skins if you search about DA etc etc.......build and pop in a matching Rainy or DX2 calendar....and if you can find one more component that you can skin to match then great....put that altogether and present it well and i might even raise the roof with a 10

My pleasure HGE....but i am not being critical.....I am just giving you my humble opinion of what i would like to see You have showed with the thredz set up what you are capable of so use that statndard as a bench mark and never fall below it

Travis....you are a man after my heart with a Chanija piece in your screenshot.......i did a lot of testing with others for Cha on his subzero masterpiece before its release and although it was not a WB i still think it is one of the best works i have ever seen........maybe and hopefully it won't be too long before Cha will join us here and make his next work a WB..........i digress..........Again this is not critisism just my "eye"........Love the wall....love it to bits and the clock of yours blends nicely with it........next change the WB so you have got a contrast and the blue in subzero would be great.......the Boss (Brad) ported a version over here onto WC.......then the "piece de la resistance" ........grab Cha's sub zero iconpackager theme here at WC or if you are feeling really wreckless pop over to DA and grab the lot and build your own package and change every single icon including apps and quicklaunch into subzero......and expand the Start Panel out so we can see all the right side.......now add in a bit of spice of your own and make a calendar - Rainy or DX2 - to match that lovely clock of yours. I'd like to see a Winamp in their as well but i would like to see the setup with all the other components first before deciding which skin to use. That lot would rock my socks off

I got the finesse before he made the subzero form of it. I am thinking about contacting chaninja and seeing if he minds if I upload it. I had to do a lot of work to get it to work right. And about those icons. It'll give me something to do. I don't feel up to making a winampskin. and a calender. hmm that shouldn't be very hard.

icons: i have almost all of the osx icons in png format...almost a 1000 from (crap whats his name err I hate my memory) and I was working at converting them to icons and a iconpackager theme. I got board of it though because the osx style isn't my favorite. I think I'll get the iconpack here and add the rest from deviantart for the chaninja style.

re the Winamp there will be something out there that will fit in with the set up anyway but the matching calendar would look great. Still feel that with the wall, clock and calendar as a base you need a good contrasting colour to come from the WB and icons hence sub zero. Good Luck. That little lot will keep you off the streets for a while

I got the sub zero color of the same skin. I also got sub zero. Now my job tonight is to transform them to windowblinds. I got some other goodies from neowin that I might be able to include (like toolbar icons and animations) I also got the icons. But First I will make the calender. won't be hard. its just some special layerstyles i cooked up.

I gotta lot to do.
