Groupy 2.1 Beta Feedback Thread

Groupy 2.1 Beta Feedback Thread

With the Groupy 2.1 beta release today, we are creating this thread so that users can report any observed issues.

Obtaining the beta:

Object Desktop members can get the beta from within Object Desktop Manager with 'show beta downloads' enabled:

Individual purchases (as well as Object Desktop Members) can also be obtained from your account page:

https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products

Reporting an issue:

Please include the following for anything found:

  • Exact Windows version \ build (winver.exe)

  • Detailed steps to recreate the issue seen

  • Screenshots and videos are very helpful.  Videos can be uploaded to a cloud drive service (GoogleDrive, DropBox, OneDrive, YouTube), with a shared link included in your post.  Images can be copied and pasted directly into a post.

  • If there are specific apps that the app does not work (well) with, please note what apps and their exact versions.  If any app is not common, a link to a trial version would be appreciated.

Thank you for your interest and any time you put into making Groupy 2 a better product.

Quoting Narusegawa Naru,

It occurs almost every time. The duration varies however. usually it's only a couple of seconds but once in a while it can hang for a few minutes. Even had enough time to close the group and watch it for about 2 minutes. Again to note it does not happen (for me) if I'm not using any modifiers and just have it set to group while hovering for more than a second option set.

Your PC power (CPU, memory, etc) on the low, mid, or high end?

I would say Mid at least.

Whatever refresh functionality was changed in the 2.1 beta seems to have eliminated all of the bugs I reported in 2.0 (with the exception of the OS-limited bugs and Firefox accent color issue). I'll try to do some deeper testing tomorrow.

This is a really solid improvement. Thanks!

One suggestion regarding the accent color -- it would be nice to be able to un-group a particular application from a saved group, and have it reset the accent color to its previous value after re-adding it to the group (without setting it as a global default for that application type).

Thank you Sean I'll get on it straight away

EDIT:

No I still have the same issue. The only way to mitigate it appears to be to use the "Always group windows..." option however I decided to try "Instantly group windows" instead of the waiting for 1 second and the problem occurs with that potion. It goes away only when using BOTH "Always group windows when moved on top of each other" and "Only group when the window has been held for at least one second".

I'm not sure how the shadow window is controlled but it acts as though it needs some form of delay. I will continue to mess around a bit to see if I can glean any more information.

I will say despite a few minor hiccups G2 is working well and I love the new appearance.

Conflict between Groupy 2 and John’s Background Switcher..

Windows 10 22H2 Build 19045.3208

Groupy 2.1 beta

JBS 5.5.1

Whenever JBS changes the desktop background, the Windows taskbar flickers.  Problem started with the initial installation of Groupy 2.  Disabling Groupy for the account resolves the problem.  Installed Groupy 2.1 beta but problem still exists.  Did not have the issue with previous version of Groupy.

In the latest 2.1 when Explorer is maximized, it is still showing part of the desktop at the top and when another window is opened, you see it overlap.  Going to do a clean install to see if that fixes it but something to look at.  Windows 11 DEV Build 23493.

Explorer Maximized -

Another window opened -

UPDATE - Toggling the Disable option in Groupy then enabling it again seemed to fix the issue.  Very weird and will keep an eye on it.

UPDATE #2 - Issue returned.  Removing Groupy to do a clean install or until next release.

Do you have the option to disable replacement of the OS tabs enabled?

Hey Guys, as in Reply #8 i tried to explain the Problem with Pics, here you have a Video:

Animated GIF: https://imgur.com/a/29N6RpN

As you can see on the animated GIF, when maximized, the groupy bar is bunched together and there is a gap between the explorer window and the groupy bar. However, this does not happen when the explorer window is maximized to half the monitor.

The next problem is a bug in the window when Groupy2 is integrated in the explorer window. When the explorer window is maximized and a new window is added, the groupy bar slides out of the explorer window.

Not a bug but more of a cosmetic problem is that when the explorer windows are maximized (regardless of whether Groupy is integrated or as a bar on top of the explorer window), the bars are always very compressed.

I use Windows 10 Pro, 22H2 - Build: 19045.3208
