The only comment I have on this thread is the following.

Both of us should be glad I am not a moderator...

In my 5 years in this community, I would swear I have seen that exact same thing a million times. There are jillions of them floating around. Some with scanlines, some with text, offset on the other side. It is a big 3d crystal-thingy. Nothing at all new. If they accepted this one, they'd have to accept all the rest of them.

That isn't to say it wouldn't make a decent background, but as far as I am concerned it is the same stuff that is churned out by the hundred on a daily basis.

P.S. They are just gonna remove that image anyway, you're abusing the image tag with something that size.

Tha_Gangsta_Nerd, It's doubtful that it would be accepted, and if it was, it would get a low rating.  As BakerStreet said, there are a billion walls out there that look just like that.  Styl Skinner just proved why it wouldn't be accepted....though Styl's has a bit more of a flair to it

TNG, don't quiet that would not be the right path to take and you know you've done it before only to pick it up again and try in another way. I am not speaking specifically of Walls, or art in general. You have to see things in the abstract with yourself removed from it and face the facts to get beyond them. Otherwise you are sentenced to repeat them in all walks of life that you take up.

You've a grasp on what borders appealing to many, and you fall short of Dali, so what is your issue? You like this wall, I do also. Want it posted for download, find deeper meaning in it and apply it, let it evolve and while your at it let yourself evolve Artistically with it

THAT is what moderation is about, that is what knowing you have been accepted to be hosted on one of the Top Customization sites on the Web is about. It isn't a God Given right, it isn't something there everyone who signs up should assume as being anything more than a possibility of being accepted, nothing more.

Posting works in the message board is a serious DIS to all who run through normal (site policy driven) channels. That is my issue with posting works in threads. It diminishes the real meaning behind it.

Ok, all you people out there doing Walls, every heard of Mats? Movies use mat's as back grounds and it is a multi-million dollar a year business. Anyone else noticed that Skins and Themes from this site and others have ended up in Movies?

Want to put together a portfolio?

Want exposure?

want you work just thrown up because you submitted it or do you want your best work present which will possibly catch someones eye?

It is a feeling, a meaning felt deep inside... Otherwise submit it to Walls-R-Us and live with it...

you set your own horizons here, make them the best you can imagine, but don't try to frag the process in order to find or create some personal nitch...

anyway...

back to being mindless and pointless...

My advice to anyone who gets to this point would be to turn off the computer, get a good quality pencil, eraser, and paper, and draw something. Think about what you want to make, draw it to the best of your ability, then turn the computer back on and create it with the software of your choice.

The line between the really good artists and the rest of us is that they draw or render *deliberately*, guiding the software instead of being guided by it. 99% of the problems people have creating this kind of art is that they have no idea what they are actually making before they make it. Find an image in your head, and practice until you can create something that resembles it enough to suit you. Once you can do that, you are well on your way to making things that no one else will be able to call 'common'.

As has been said here a million times, 'abstract' != 'random'.

The others all gave good advice, TGN - but, I want to give you credit too. You don't have your name, or your URL, or any other 'tagline' plastered all over it. Keep -that- up! ^_^
