Windows 8.1 and Window Focus?

Help!

Hi. I need some KVM software that can run on Win 8.1 (I cant upgrade as it controls an old CNC machine).

I have an old licence for Multiplicity 3, but cant see where it states which Windows versions it supports?

Also, I tried Barrier, which I believe is a fork of Synergy and it worked on Win 8.1, BUT as I moved the mouse from the server machine to the client is stole the focus away from the active window (the CNC control software) which makes it stop.

Will your software be any better for this?

Thanks, Ben.

Hello,

At present, Stardock only offers Multiplicity v4, which does not support Windows 8.1. However, since you mentioned you already have Multiplicity v3, I checked the archived Quick Start Guide: Multiplicity 3 Quick Start Guide. It confirms compatibility with both Windows 8 and Windows 10. Given that Windows 8.1 was released between these two versions, it’s reasonable to assume that v3 should also work on Windows 8.1.

I can’t provide a comparison with Barrier, as I haven’t used it myself. The best way forward would be to try Multiplicity v3 on your setup and see how it performs.

Thank you.
