I've always felt like part of the team.

I just read Brad's 10 year blog. Wow...talk about memories. I jumped on to Windowblinds as soon as I saw it. I would get so frustrated with trying to keep it running with Win95/98. I was always checking the newsgroups to see what fix was next. I saw value in it early on and I'm glad I stuck with it. It's an awesome product. I remember trying to decide whether or not to just get WB or the entire ODNT package. I splurged for ODNT. Then I had to explain it to my wife. She didn't get it then. She does now.

I was so jazzed about DesktopX. I remember using the coolest DX skin...I think it was made by Treetog and it was called something like "2000 professional" I was having problems getting it to display right and Treetog was emailing me suggestions about how to fix it. I thought it was so cool that this person I had never met, from another country, had the same excitement I had for making my computer screen look cool. It was obvious to me then that I wanted to be part of the community.

Keep up the good work fellas...I'm not artist but I'll do what I can to support the effort. It's an honor to know that my $$ went to something I've enjoyed for years. Something that keeps getting better. Something I feel part of.

Does anyone remember that "2000 Professional" theme (I may have the name wrong) Treetog made back when DX was in beta? I'd love to see him rework it for DX2.

TY, RHCP but try to stick to the topic and add your comment as a 'last' thought perhaps. I only say this because I got in a lot of trouble for posting off topic in other people's threads in my early days . And yes, them wicker chairs was everywheres back then!

Back to topic:

/me loves WC and Stardock and FB too!!!!!!!!!!!!

/me wishes everyone who loves it here would write a thank-you of sorts to any of the admins or Frogboy himself just for a bit of cheer and goodwill and thankfulness!

I've just been cleaning out my garage and found the printed manual for my Object Desktop v1.5 for OS/2! I think it was *the* first purchase I made over the net (and received spam ever since )

If I get time tomorrow I'll scan the cover and post it somewhere to for you guys to look at - it was very slick.

Stardock made some great improvements to OS/2 in those days and I've followed and used their products ever since!

I was a bit of a late-comer to Stardock, I think WB.1.02 or something was my first d/l and I've been more than happy to pay for the neat goodies ever since then.
The original skins.org (?????) was also a great resource with nice people and far more talent on line than I'd come across.
And sure enough, while the Frog and the Wombat usually disagree on many things I'm hanging in for the long haul ....
So thanks Brad and the Stardockers for the programs (and the fish)!

ToeJo, thanks for this. I remember some good folks there. Remember d? Or scratch? Tarkus? And of course great artist like Morphh and Dangeruss? I'll hope I see some of them back. I miss d. He was the shit. Wouldn't it be great to see them back again?

Sorry Treetog...and Nikos Bentis. It was Nikos that made the DX theme. As I look at it now, it looks more like a cool WB skin that a DX theme. I still like it today!

No further information about Nikos. I wonder where he went?

psst...Kona...adni18 is still here.  Notice him over in the top 10?  You don't stay up there if you don't keep submitting or updating your stuff.

Chris TH, it's funny that you bring up the OS/2 stuff.  OD for OS/2 made a world a difference in the OS.  I always thought that OS/2 would have been better if IBM would have let us bundle OD with OS/2.  Instead, they went the other way and went pretty much corporate only.  Now they preload Linux and Windows on their machines....go figure   Stardock is a totally different beast than it was in the beginning.  We actually had to answer the phones to take all the orders.  And, everything was *gasp!* shipped to people.  Online orders were faxed to us then manually processed (It's hard to remember that online processing and carts weren't quite there yet back then.)  It's absolutely amazing what has happened since I started working here (which was over 8 years ago).  The whole software market has evolved with online sales and delivery.

I quite agree! So much so that for me the apps I used most from OS/2: Control Center (mainly for multiple desktops - I use BandVWM only now) and Tablaunchpad (at most 2 clicks to open any app) are still the first thing to go onto any of my windows PCs.

We actually had to answer the phones to take all the orders.

That sounds like *work*

And here I though Brad did it all from his laptop while sitting in his lounge room using his wireless LAN
