I will tell you what I would really like back and what should be a feature of this tool and that is "Enable Text Labels" in the taskbar. How can anyone work on multiple docs or spreadsheets without Text Labels?

I know I can do this:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell\Update\Packages
"UndockingDisabled"  DWord "00000001

BUT this gets rid of the clock so no good.

I would be so happy if you could find a way to do this

Would it be possible to add a feature where the windows 10 menu automatically goes to full screen mode when a keyboard is detached? (I use a surface 7 on windows 11 and was probably the only person that liked "tablet mode" in windows 10)

Issues I noticed in Start 11 1.01 so far:

- font used to display context menu of items is not consistent with system font, it is different font (not sure if this is different type of font, it can be just same font but larger size but looks different to me anyway) and I cannot find an option to change it/make it looking consistently with rest of Windows -> I found a 'workaround': set 'make menu font bigger or smaller' to possible minimum (90%); 100% is actually larger than Windows itself uses, 90% is 'same font' so looks like an obvious bug. But then another problem - 'All programs' item is smaller than it should be (I'm guessing 90% of what it should be).

- when I do not want to have all 'modern UI' apps to be displayed as individual items in 'All programs' next to traditional apps folders and items and I enable an option to display modern apps in separate folder (Show Universal apps in their own folder), this folder's name is not localized (i.e. is English) and there's no way to rename it. Actually I would like to have an option of disabling displaying modern/universal apps next to traditional apps in left-hand panel and have dedicated folder in right-hand side panel only (like it used to be in Start 10), which I then could rename.

- when right clicking on 'All programs' item, 'Open' menu entry is not localized (i.e. displayed in English) while 'Open all users' is displayed in native Windows language (Polish in my case), that's not what it used to be in Start 10 (both items were displayed in Polish there)

- 'All programs' item itself is not localized (i.e. displayed in English, not in Windows native language), that's again not what it used to be with Start 10 (it was displayed in Polish there)

Thanks

Start 11 search feature doesn't work as well as native Windows search.  I'm having a hard time finding programs or services unless I type the exact full name of the program or service. For example Disk Management typed as diskmgmt.msc doesn't appear in the search results unless you type out the full name, but I can find it quickly with the native Windows 11 search within 1 or 2 letters.

I'd like an option to incorporate native Windows 11 search into the Modern Style start menu theme, thanks.

Have you perhaps run that many times from Windows search?

Having checked on a Windows 10 machine using the MS search that option is also only shown once it is fully typed in.  I have not checked on Win11 so it may be that has changed in 11.

It should be possible for search to at least list it, but it seems to be ignoring that until it is an exact match for things which are not in the start menu which made sense in the past but may not anymore.

@sdRohan yes, I have that option enabled.

@Neil Banfield I'm on a pretty fresh install of Windows 11. Just installed it 12/29/21, so I haven't really ran that search much at all, but I understand what you're saying.Searching for disk management in Start 11 search

If I use Windows 11 search, I only have to type 'd' to find what I'm looking for:

Given the other options there, it looks like it must be using some sort of run count to bring it higher up the list as logically any of those starting with D would be higher priority than that item.  I have a theory on what it might be using there.

Hello,

Unfortunately the taskbar has remained like this for me even after unistalling Start11.

Any ideas on how to correct this?

I thought i'd try the 1.1 beta to see if this is fixed but i dont have access to it.

I am getting one or more "Runtime Error" dialog(s) when I lock my computer (no sleep / no hibernate). When I press OK on the first dialog, all other dialogs go away and the shell resets (taskbar goes blank, screen flashes), then the taskbar re-initialized and re-shows.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: [link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.
