Please note this is identical to the 1.01 beta so there are no changes over that build.  This is just moving the beta to release.

Quoting sdRohan,

Known Issues

I just received a popup window for update.

This is not a Beta release. The issue is only for Beta releases which there will be more of.

Beta 1.01 is awesome and fixed most of the animation performance issues I was having. Those issues were so bad on the trial version that I immediately uninstalled it, but after finding out about the beta and gambling on the changelog I ended up purchasing 5 keys. I'll update my comment as I find feedback to include, but for now:

Bugs:

- Clicking the start button to close the menu can keep the start button in a hovered state which makes it visually look bad and glitchy. This may also impact other taskbar windows but I haven't done much testing to know for sure. I used Start8 a lot and remember encountering a similar issue so this may be an outstanding bug.

- Dragging the mouse over the Start11 taskbar horizontally is very slow to change the buttons hover state and makes the entire system feel sluggish and unoptimized. This happens on an i5-4690k running at 5GHz and a 2080Ti so I don't think hardware is an issue. I've kept Start11 installed on my Surface tablet that doesn't have mouse capabilities but completely uninstalled Start11 from my desktop because of this.

Feature wishlist:

- Allowing "all apps" in Windows 11 mode to be the rightmost page when scrolling. This would allow an easier way to see all applications through a MMB scroll rather than looking for and clicking the tiny button.

Thanks!

I am pleased to hear the performance issues were resolved for you.  It was very much dependant on the computer as some computers were happy, others definitely not.

Are you using a custom start button on the first issue and also which OS are you using?  Also is this only when clicking using touch?

On the second, do you have any custom textures set on the taskbar?  The taskbar buttons themselves are drawn by Microsoft so we shouldn't be having any impact at all on them.  The taskbar remains the Microsoft taskbar.  Start11 provides the menu.

Thats an interesting idea on the all apps list.  It is part of the pages group already, just hidden so you cannot scroll onto it.

Performance is better with 1.0.1, scrolling is also kinda better, but still somewhat low framerate.

Also, and more importantly :
- Whenever you right click on a tile, it all goes to hell for a few seconds, everything is delayed, it's awful
- When you click on a folder in the start menu, it feels like there's a delay before any other click is registered. It's slow.
- Right clicking a tile also breaks scrolling of the start menu for a bit

See video for exmaples of both issues, I've added an overlay of my mouse so you can see clicks.

Under Start Menu > Configuration > Advanced Options:

I've enabled "Show recent documents".  Where do they display?  I don't see them under pinned apps when I open Start 11 - that's where they are in Windows 11 I believe.  Is thisa feature working?  Are they somewhere else?

Version 1.01

Thanks!

Terry

When I click on my name in the Start11 menu, I do that get that "old style" menu with the three options.  I do not have a "tiny square in the lower right of the "old style menu".  If I try clicking there I sign out.  Is clicking on this square supposed to open the "New Style menu"?  And clicking "move to next page" takes me to a page with Recent docs?  Sorry for the confusion Skiptic.  I appreciate your offer of help.  Thanks in advance for any follow-up info you can provide. 😎👍

Bugs I have seen so far:

- Icon for the MS Store version of Spotify is white instead of the original green icon
- After opening Start menu and then moving cursor over an opened app makes the preview go benhind the Start menu
- Clicking the shutdown icon and then clicking empty space on menu makes the overlay stuck

The screenshot with comments I posted was just a generic bug report not a response ;)

In Start11 version 1.01 on Windows 11 21H2 (Build 22000.348), if I use the Windows 10 style all programs list, the Desktop folder is not visible (screenshot). If I revert to the Windows 7 style, that folder becomes visible (screenshot).

The issue I reported here is still present in 1.01 (Windows 10 and 11). As soon as you open the settings of modern style, the menu reverts to the version with user icon.

Another issue. Go the settings, in my case modern style, then go to customize menu visual appearance. Then go back a page, that option is greyed out entirely and cannot be entered again, until you close the Start 11 settings. It does not matter if you make any changes before going up a level of the settings.

Another issue, same style. When going to Recent Items, set as one of the quick access shortcuts, there is a very small menu at the top left of the screen that pops up right before the menu of the recent items itself is displayed. It flashes by quickly, so hard to take a screenshot.

Win 11 22518.
Bugs:
-Changing between Start Menu styles sometimes doesn't work or is delayed, especially when swtiching between "Windows 7" and "Modern Style" (they look identical until I change to Win 10 style and then back to one of these).
-Win 10/11 style menu doesn't show most of my pinned app shortcuts (I'm not able to understand what's the criteria for whichs ones fail to show here). Win 7/Modern styles seem to show most, if not all, the shortcuts pinned to the start menu.
-Win 7/Modern styles don't allow scrolling of the pinned shortcuts in the main page, thus making it impossible to select, or even see, all of them (there is no scroll bar and the mouse scroll wheel doesn't do anything).

This app is great but isn't really really for sale IMO.

Are you using some tool or hack to give you Windows classic look on windows?

Just wanted to say that 1.01 is working much smoother now on Windows 10. The app still crashes randomly, but nowhere near the amount it was. Keep up the good work devs!

The modern style menu appears to only show the first few shortcuts from a large folder of shortcuts. There is no option to scroll within the menu, requiring me to open the folder in file explorer to view the entire folder.

On build 22000.348
