The modern style menu appears to only show the first few shortcuts from a large folder of shortcuts. There is no option to scroll within the menu, requiring me to open the folder in file explorer to view the entire folder.

On build 22000.348

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, you can however add that folder to your right panel and set it to open as menu. Those you can scroll within. Something like screenshot below.

Thanks

Got quite a scare just now, after upgrade. Apparently the app didn't remember my previous 'style' and reverted to Windows 11 (was using 10style before), and it made it seem as if all the customizations were gone. I finally figured out that my settings are safe once I picked Windows 10 style again.

Just upgraded to 1.01. Using the win10 start menu style. all my shortcut icons are shuffled and my customization is lost. I will have to spend about 30 minutes setting them up again. This appears to be similar to Zsilet has bit was resloved by changeing start menu. This is quite unacceptable.

Still would love the alphabetical all-apps sidebar to appear when using Start10 Windows10 full screen start menu, just like it's done when it's not full screen.

This problem has been present since the beta(I had already reported it some weeks ago):

Turning on Start 11 search feature will make "Windows Explorer" CPU usage climb very high, and it will even crash the Explorer process once in a while.(thus resetting the taskbar entirely)

Here is the CPU when I do a search using Windows 11 search feature:  I searched for "test" (Windows Input experience goes to around 14%, but that is all).:

and here is what happens when I turn on Start 11 search instead(same search for "test"): Boom, Windows explorer goes to almost 80%.  And as mentioned, it will crash that process about 10% of the time.  Since I start most of my apps by doing a search in the menu, that's alot of crashes in a day.  That is why I do not use this feature at all right now, but since there was a new version release, I tested it again to see if the problem was still there.  It is. Heck, it even crashed while doing this example! (I have included the Event Viewer related error below)

Here are the 2 events from the event viewer.

I'm running Windows 11 Home Version 21H2
I have "Elite Dangerous Market Connector" installed.  On the Windows 11 Start Menu it  has an Icon and will launch, on the Start11 1.01 Start menu it has no icon and will not launch.

It only does this if the Start11 style is set to Windows 10 or Windows 11.  Windows 7 or Modern  Style the icon appears normally and the application will launch.

Windows Start Menu

Start11 Start Menu

And when I attempt to launch it from Start11 start menu, I receive this rather odd error.

Elite Dangerous Market Connector can be downloaded from here:

Quoting tonyhartley,

I have the latest version of window 11, this is how my start11 app looks:

Reduced 22%

Original 1287 x 854

Are you using some tool or hack to give you Windows classic look on windows?

End of Neil's quote

No its was a brand new computer, I had tried some with solution, but none were installed or active.

It's not a problem now because I've downgraded to Windows 10.

It looks like something had broken OS theme support so windows dropped to Windows Classic look.

In such a case there may be no text rendering in the config UI.

DUAL MONITOR issue / work-around

Windows 10, Version 21H2 (OS Build 19044.1415)
Start11, Version 1.01  (although issue was the same on Version 1.00)
Setup on Windows 11 Style with transparent background

Everytime I reboot, I have to go thru these steps to get Start11 to display correctly on DUAL monitor setup

  • On reboot, my left monitor Taskbar is left justified and my right monitor Taskbar is centered.  I have it set for "Center aligned"
Monitor #1 (cropped to show bottom of screen)
  • The fix to this is to hit Ctrl-Alt-Del, launch Task Manager, go to Details and kill "explorer.exe"... then File and "Run new task" to relaunch explorer.exe.
  • This fixes Monitor #1 with Taskbar centered, but breaks Monitor #2, leaving Taskbar left justified.  The solution to this is right click the Taskbar, select "Taskbar Settings" (which opens Windows settings), scroll down to Multiple Displays and turn "off" Show Taskbar on all displays... then turn it back on again.  This will result in Monitor #2 Taskbar icons to center....  almost there.  The Taskbar on Monitor #2 is not transparent.
Monitor #2 (cropped to show bottom of screen)
  • Next step is get into the Stardock Start11 Configuration and click the gear to the right side of "Windows 11 style".  Just by clicking it the Monitor #2 Taskbar goes transparent.

This is my work-around to get Taskbar11 to render in "Windows 11 style", centered and transparent on a dual monitor system.  I do it EVERY time I reboot.  Hoping this was fixed, I tried the beta of 1.01 when it was available for download.  I even ran the script to do a "clean" install.  This also meant I had to repin everything, fun times.  Did not make a difference.  I reinstalled version 1.00.  When 1.01 was pushed I reinstalled it, same diff.  (same code base)

On a side note, I have also reported that enabling the windows "Task View" icon will cause it to display on both monitors, but on monitor #2 will be overlayed if any other icon is displayed.   https://forums.stardock.com/508478/page/1/#3827967  This is also still an issue in both version 1.00 and 1.01.

Getting crashes followed by the error below quite frequently. Doesn't seem to be related to any particular program or function, just happens randomly.

Hi,

Using Windows 11 Pro 21H2 Build 22000.376. The recent items menu, when I try to use the Open in (Directory Opus in my case) right click menu item, takes me to a non-existent path: "C:\Users\Neil\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent" (totally not on my machine...).

Directory Opus version is 12.26

Windows 11 22000.376

Using Windows 10 Style

Right-click on modern app and select uninstall. Nothing appears to happen even though the app is actually uninstalled. Icon remains. Subsequent clicks in icon gives the message that shortcut is gone.

Is it possible to choose the language? Previously, there was Polish language, now there is no one.

Issue: autohide taskbar does not work as intended on the second and third monitors

The taskbar works fine on the primary monitor.

On the second or third monitor

The taskbar does not appear if your mouse hovers over the taskbar location as it should on the second and third monitors.

The taskbar will only appear on the second or third monitor if your mouse pointer is on that screen AND you press the start button on your keyboard.

After pressing the start button on your keyboard, the taskbar will stay there until you move your mouse off the taskbar area. Once the mouse is off the taskbar (even to the start menu) it disappears but the start menu stays on screen until you click on the desktop or another app.

My settings

Windows

version: 21H2 - Build 22000.376

Personalization-Taskbar settings

"Automatically hide the taskbar" checked

"Show my taskbar on all displays" checked

"All taskbars" for "When using multiple displays, show my taskbar apps on"

Start 11 settings (version 1.01)

Taskbar size: Medium

taskbar position: primary - Align Bottom; secondary - Align Bottom

Possible Software Conflicts

Have DisplayFusion Pro 10.0 (Beta 11) but the taskbar features are disabled.

I have rebooted and the problem remains

Problem uninstalling apps from the store.  Uninstall, but do not disappear from the list before restarting Explorer. When deactivating "Start 11", everything is fine. If I activate it, the icon of my application is there again.

Where are we with the ability, quickly and easily, to save and restore start menus and move start menus between machines?

Lack of this ability made Microsoft Windows 10 look half finished. Of course Windows 11 has just made the start menu worse without even fixing the defect in Windows!

This is a serious requirement for anyone with more than one PC. Trying to keep them in step is no fun after the first few hours.

OK I know this feature would be imperfect but something similar works on Android. When an Android configuration is restored, any missing Android app is simply greyed out. So it would be fine if the same thing happened on Windows a far as I am concerned.

Happy Chrstmas everybody. Sad old me tapping away on Chrstmas day!

The issue has reappeared with the SM comming in the top left corner now. lasted a couple of days, now also fences as stopped letting me drag icons into them

Right Click > Uninstall does not work.

Right Click > SendTo Desktop does not work on apps.

Dragging apps to Desktop does not work unless disable StarDock and use Windows Start Menu to do so.
