I have never been east simply because many in my family, even Mom, has. heard to much that discusted me. Besides (I remembered this time Koa)I personally hate New York.

You don't know how much that hurt. Getting laughed at as I type. Mark this down on your calender as it might be the only time.

It may also may depend on how close DarkMist wants to be the UK. The east coast/north east is the closest to it. But again, that may not an issue for him

Manchester NH has a large and growing airport though I don't know if they have flights directly to the UK. I imagine for intl flights you'd have to fly out of Boston's Logan Airport, unless you fly out of Manchester and get a connecting flight somewhere. It's been awhile since I've flown out of Manchester regularly

If you don't need a city there's lots of nice places in America, in fact as far as cities go, Portland Oregon ain't too bad. You can live in the woods and be twenty minutes from the city.

TEXAS we've got cold, snow, hurricanes, tornadoes, heat, marshlands, beaches, deserts, mountains, forests, plains, farmlands, big cities, small towns, big lakes, no state tax, state police are the worst though can't have it all

Check out Alberta, Canada. There's lots of beautiful places here. We've got lakes, mountains and good quality of life here.....something to think about.....check it out

Not yet....but maybe next week.   Actually, winters aren't too bad here.  We just like to complain a lot.  There is really only a week or two of "bad" weather (at least in southern Michigan.  Northern Michigan is a whole different story...)

I think you need to visit more of the US .....there are plenty of "quiet" areas in the US.  But, if you only visit the "tourist" areas, you will never see them.  (Just like any country you go to).  For instance, I think that the large Amish sections of Michigan could be considered as "quiet" as can be.

Move to Canada instead. All the same conveniences without all those Americans. (j/k)

True, though taxes are a bummer, but housing costs is the cheapest in North America. I bought my house for 65,000 CA$ (around 40,000 US$).

I also have to vote for TEXAS. I wasn't born here (originally from NY) but I got here as fast as I could.

Actually, getting back to your original choice of Boston. I can't think of a better place. A good sized city that is close to some of the most beautiful little towns you ever want to see. My wife and I have gone there on occasion. One of our most favorite areas is the Cape Ann area just north of Boston. With towns like Gloucester (America's oldest seaport), Rockport, Essex and Manchester by-the-Sea, to name just a few. And of course, south of Boston is the other wonderful cape, Cape Cod.

You would be hard pressed to find a better area in the U.S. to live.

COLORADO! W00T! East coast sucks. I hate it out here.
