You have to close the Groupy UI and reopen for that to refresh.

Did not make a difference as far as I remember. v1.44 did not populate this list when I try to add PDFXEdit.exe. And even if it is still populated from a previous v1.43 installation or by manually editing the Registry it still did not group the windows automatically.

v1.43 populates the list as expected (Groupy UI needs to be reopened to see the change) and also groups windows successfully either by using the application list or by using AlwaysGroupIdentical.

So v1.44 seems broken, v1.43 is not.

I will stay with v1.43 until this is fixed. Much less of a hassle compared to the workaround. But thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks. The procedure is different. I was using always group with mtmstsc.

I will try your procedure.

Thanks. My procedure was wrong. I can group mtmstsc.

Quoting sdRohan,

As stated prior:

https://forums.stardock.com/502031/get;3791394

VS Code works to auto group. While WinRAR will group, there does seem to be an issue with auto grouping it:

Video:
https://cdn.stardock.us/support/uploads/2020-10-30_10-22-29.mp4

We will look into it.

Internal ref: ODNT-1181

Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for the hint.

In my case, only Explorer windows were giving me some trouble as at Windows boot they were sometimes not all grouped.

I hope that forcing automatic grouping like your video will avoid it for happening again.

Regarding WinRAR and other apps, I do not have any issue since ever about auto grouping windows of the same app, even without forcing the executable like in your video.

Cheers.

Hi to everybody.

I have v1.44 and did not make any strange things to it so to work with WinRAR. It has always worked with WinRAR.

What does not work always is Explorer.exe but only at Windows start, as I find all my Explorer windows all split up, or not grouped all together but grouped only some and the other split up, or grouped in two groups.

Is there any fix for this?

Thank you.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know what do you mean by "but only at Windows start"?  And we also need more information on your Windows version. Please use Winver.exe for full Windows version numbers.

Thanks

Are fixes for auto-grouping in the making? Still staying on v1.43 here.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issue. Been looking through the forum for your previous post, but I can't find any. What is the issue you was referring to?

Thanks

Thanks for that, since Support already known about the issue, and from what he said there seem Dev also know about it. But I can't say if and when the fix will be available.

Hello to everybody!

Ok, yes..I forgot to add some important details :)

I am on Windows 10 Pro 64bit build 19041.610

What I mean when I say at Windows start, is that when I boot in Windows, and my desktop loads and shows all my previous folders opened, most of the times they end up not being grouped together.

Lets make an example of shutting down my computer or restarting Windows with 6 Explorer windows grouped together:

  1. some times I get them all grouped as I left them
  2. some times I get them grouped maybe in 2 parts (like 3 folders grouped together and other 3 grouped together but separately)
  3. some times I get them not grouped at all

Is there a solution for this? I think I have an issue only with Windows Explorer.

Thank you.

I don't think Groupy can hold its group while cold/hot booting. Just to be sure, I have forward your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Thank you very much.

It is a simple shutdown and restart, and sometimes it groups well.

The past versions were working a lot better on this.

Is there a way maybe to force grouping Explorer.exe windows or so?

Thanks.

You can make sure that Explorer.exe is set to always group. But I am not sure if it will work while booting up, since Groupy might not be loaded just yet.

Well, I have to say that I was not doing what you have mentioned since some version.

I have done that right now. Will post here about the behavior I'll encounter.

Thanks a lot!

What is making that happen - that any (Explorer) window would reopen after a reboot?

Groupy stopped automatically grouping instances of Notepad2 with this update.

1.45 beta does not resolve this.

It's been over 20 days since the autogrouping problems with v1.44 were first reported. Are there any updates yet?
