Has anyone used Roxio's GoBack here?

I know some people who have been raving about it. Haven't tried it myself, though. I believe that it's main advantage over its Widnows XP equivalent is that GoBack, can restore individual files, as opposed to your entire system.

Windows Xp does have a similar feature called system restore. Ive used it twice over the past year and it works like a charm

I use Drive Image. Puts your entire hard drive on cd's. You can restore about 7-8 gigs in about an hour. No more of that constant restarting when installing all of your programs. (DVD's would work too, of course.)

Raving about it? I guess that sound good. It took my 4 hours to put all the programs on my sisters computer... Maybe it shouldn't have taken that long but it did



2 programs and the router and the something else... well it just took long!
(And that Microsoft Digital Media edition software is pretty cool too.)

Used the GoBack software on a co-worker's computer - couldn't really tell much difference between that and Windows XP System Restore. I really have not been a Roxio fan overall, though, so my opinion is biased.

I've used GoBack 4 times since installing XP. 2 Major screw ups were fixed and 2 minor hic-ups were fixed. Sure does beat re-installing. All 4 times my system was returned to normal in less than 15 minutes. >

It's just silly to throw your money away on some program that your system has already!

I use Powerquest Drive Image. At the moment my HD has 25Gb on it. The thought of re-installing everything, downloading all updates and copying back files is too much to contemplate. Drive Image can do all that in under an hour. I even have a seperate 160Gb drive just for images, with a spare partition for a restore in case my main HD is fragged. All my files are also on CDRW - just in case

A couple of useful tips for Drive Image:
1) Store your images on a FAT32 partition - after a format then restore DI sometimes has problems with NTFS permissions.
2) DI stores partition size. Make sure any partition or drive you are restoring to is equal to, or larger than the original partition.

I had Roxio's Goback on my last computer...(Gateway) and loved it.. should get it on this new Dell ...like it a whole lot more than System restore

I was under the impression that Windows system restore was written by Roxio, a kind of GoBack Lite. The defragger was wiritten by Executive Software the Diskeeper folks.

Go back worked flawlessly everytime I used it and has many more options than the XP version.(which failed almost every single time.The xp version sometimes has a problem letting go of harddrive space after you turn it off.If you need to save space a drive image program is best.Another option is to partition your harddrive so the OS is on a 5 0r 6 GB partition.Solves a lot of problems and I almost never have to defrag anymore.

the diffrence b/w WinXP system restore and Roxi Goback is that Goback is an OS Independe Software..........it reads ur disk for deleted data and restore ur drive 2 an earlier stage and last best stage it can...........it also resotres ur OS and installed softs ......while WinXP can only restore system only if there is some restorable data in system restore.........which really limited

From reading the posts that you guys put up, I guess I'll put it on (after I install a few more programs)

I bought Norton System Works 2003 and it comes with the Roxio program (don't they make the music player too???)

So far I deleted the Wizzer virus, cleaned up the registry, got rid of dead links, and killed a few emails that were infected when I was checking for new mail.

Really cool huh?? (and since my sister has a 60 gigabit hard drive she should hae room for the back up, right )

I also need to get Partuition Magic so I can do what Fuzzy Logic did.
