Progress bar control skinning is not working for me

Winver reports Version 1903 (OS Build 18362.418).  Paint Shop Pro is Version 7.04.  WindowBlinds is 10.84 (059 - Windows 10 Edition) - 64 bit OS.

I have tried many of the skins that come with WindowBlinds and the progress bar control is not skinned in the expected way in any of them.  In all cases the color in the progress bar is taken from the "Selected Item" color patch of "system defined skin colours", and the images in the progress bar control skinning section are ignored.  Is there any way to get a color set into a progress bar different from the "Selected Item" color?

[And if you care to answer an unimportant freebie, how do I get SkinStudio itself to skin?  Cannot find any way to change the frames of either of its windows (the main program or the ones that pop up when you click to edit various sections such as system colors). In a scratch copy of one of the standard skins I have made marks in every image I can find that might be a frame, and none of them show up on the frame of these two windows.  It is a puzzle, but I'd rather fix the progress bar.]

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Is the issue only on Paint Shop Pro? If yes, than most probably it is because Paint Shop Pro is using non-conventional way to paint progress bar. And, from what I know, WB can't change that.

Skinstudio not skinned? Not sure what are you talking about. Maybe I miss understand you. But on my system it skin just fine.

The progress bars are in various Visual Basic 6 programs and are likely implemented through MSCOMCTL.OCX.

As for SkinStudio not skinning, this is what I see.  I have installed Precision as the skin.  I open SkinStudio, and for an example select Precision to edit (I did not save it and I have backups).  In Precision I select Edit Titlebars and WindowFrames as an example.  The picture below shows the result.  SkinStudio itself is not skinned, and no matter what skin I load before using it I see the old small control menu icons in the upper right corner of its windows.  I did succeed in getting the caption to skin via the gradient settings of the system color settings, but I cannot find any frame or any buttons that affect its skin.  Just a puzzle.

Looking at your skinstudio, something is different in your system. Please check if you add skinstudio as one of program listed in "Per Application" setting in Windowblinds.

On Progress Bar, I have forwarded your questions/problems to the Stardock Support team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate you feedback and patience.

Thank You,

Have you all forgotten already that we had a lot of issues with Randy31416's Windows version (October update) & Windowblinds?

Per application lists Chrome.exe, firefox.exe, Opera.exe, System Focus Flipper.exe, thunderbird.exe, and WowStuff.exe.  The last three I added and they work fine.  If I turn off styling in WindowBlinds (by selecting the "default theme") then SkinStudio shows the default theme.  Having done that, I logged off and then logged on and checked again:  SkinStudio shows the default.  I closed SkinStudio, used WindowBlinds and applied the Precision theme, and opened SkinStudio:  it shows the small grey boxes in the earlier picture while all other windows show Precision.

Thanks for forwarding the progress bar problem.

Have you tried uninstall skinstudio, reboot, reinstall skinstudio reboot and retest.

Thank you,

Regarding VB progress bars, I think older VB apps are not theme aware so the theme will not apply to them.

Whilst WindowBlinds used to provide skinning for controls which are not theme aware, this was dropped many years ago as applications are now expected to be theme aware.

Okay, I understand that you say skinning will not be applied to elements of some programs.  That's too bad, but at least it is an answer, and I will turn to other things.  The WB program is apparently working as designed.  Stardock and its stuff still make my life better -- great value for money there.

With respect to the skinning of SkinStudio, I have spent the past six or so hours downloading everything afresh, uninstalling and reinstalling everything, and testing. I got to the same state more than once -- SkinStudio is stuck on a skin and will not skin.

On the most recent iteration of this, I stopped WindowBlinds (by setting the default theme) before I installed the skin (True Classic.wba) on which SkinStudio seemed to get stuck.  Now it is not stuck, and it will skin.  On all earlier iterations I had had WindowBlinds up and running and skinning when I clicked on "True Classic.wba", and if I remember correctly this not only installed but also applied the skin (and apparently caused SkinStudio to stick).  This time, since WB was not running, clicking the "True Classic.wba" simply did an install.  Later, in WB, I selected it, and things seem normal.

So as it stands I will live with progress bars not skinning and will accept it as an unknowable anomaly if SkinStudio get stuck again.  Thanks for the interest and help.
