( Solved ) Issues after upgrading Windows 7 to Windows 10

Just had PC upgraded from Windows 7 to 10. Fences basically works, but is a little funky now....can't get icons to go where they should, it ignores my folders organization, etc.  I tried to download Fences for Windows 10, but it wouldn't accept my product code, wants to charge me another $9.99, etc. Any ideas for getting Fences set up right for Windows 10?

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

If you were using Fences 2 you will need to buy the

upgrade to Fences 3 for Windows 10 . and you'll get a new Key.

Our university just updated our computers from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Fences is using 40% of the CPU and is tagged as Very High energy use. My computer is very slow. Is this CPU usage normal for Fences?

Thanks!

Hello,

Sorry you are having issues and 40% is not normal.

What version of Fences are you running ? for Windows 10 must be Fences 3.

What version of Windows are you running ( FULL Version ) ?

Hello,

 Windows 10 requires Fences 3 .

Fences 3 is a upgrade from fences 2 .

You will have to buy Fences 3 to get a new key

to allow Fences 3 to work properly .

Well, after reading petermuller's issue above, I wonder......I too just upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 (though I'm just a private user), and the system has slowed waaaayyyyy down. Now, granted I have an older CPU, but should I expect a slowdown with Fences going forward? I'd rather not go thru the uninstall process right now, which would be the obvious step, so I guess I'm wondering whether this is a known issue?

Hello,

Would you Please try this PURGE different than a regular uninstall https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#reinstalling

Reboot and ReInstall the latest version from your account https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products/

Reboot and test . this may help your issue.

Hi, I started the process but upon reboot, when I went to install my Fences 3, it asks for a product ID, etc. I am doing the trial right now so not sure how to proceed.

Thanks.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. When you restart your pc after Fences installed and try to start Fences there should be a popup like below. Did you get that popup? If not, what popup came up. Please post a screenshot of it.

Thank you,

If you mean, that the popup you saw, and  you wanted to do the trial, use the "Start 30 day trial" button.

As I explained, I already started the free trial......I'm trying to follow AZ's recommendation of the Purge Reboot in order to see if it helps with my slowdown.

What is it and how much RAM?

Also, how many icons on the desktop aprox?

12G RAM   i3 CPU   540@3.07gh

"Slowed wayyyy down" = It takes 20 full seconds to send an email. Opening apps takes  ~10 seconds.

Icons: maybe 60-70 in all? Lots of them are folders or docs. Note: I've had Fences for years and never had a single problem.

Never mind: I just purchased Fences 3 and all's well. It WAS the big issue, apparently......now that it's installed, my computer is back to normal. Just wanted to check in and let y'all know.
