Yet once one registered, it says it will take 3 more months for it to take effect.
Unlike our Government, I don't have this kind of time to sit around and waste let alone get paid for. I have to work and hope I get paid enough to feed myself.
No wonder our economy is in such bad shape and getting worse.

Find the wav file of the tone you get when you dial a disconnected number. Put it at the beginning of your outgoing message on your answering machine.
A lot of the telemarketers use automated dialers which are tone aware and, when it detects that tone, will take the number off the list to call.
After a couple of months, those 'unavailable' calls dropped sharply on my phone.
I'm an expert at annoying marketing surveyors.
The thing is, I'm not your typical shopper, and I'm a nightmare for telemarketers. I don't care about brands, and that's what al those surveys are always about.
TM: Which brand of Yogurt have bouhgt in the last 6 months:
- Delisle
- Danone
- Yoplay
- other
Me: No idea.
TM: But you bought yogurt in the past 6 months?
Me: Yes, I buy yogurt every week.
TM: OK, could you name the brands you bough?
Me: No, sorry, I can't. Whichever ones were on sale when I bought then. Dunno what brand they were.
And so on for every question. Quite funny to listen to the poor fellow trying to put that down in his computer.

When they call I answer the phone "Go away" and hang up, second call "shut up and go away"

My son used to attempt to sell them magazine subscriptions " Oh great you called me! I was just getting to your number, My name is JK and I am with the meet the people program and we are dialing every phone number in your local exchange to see if you would be....."

Oh or when Chris and Justin would do their Bill and Ted routine with it on speaker phone.
We do not get called much after about 6 years of this, I guess *they* removed us from the call list

most *out of area" and or "private caller" numbers on our caller id box will be someone selling something..
When Joey's come to the door I explain right I don't do God, but if they would ever reconsider I do have an older used alter stuck away in the attic which would be cheap with all the nicks, scratches and stains on it.
My wife now runs for the door on weekdays starting at 9:30 - 12:00 and 8:30 - 2:00 on weekends so I don't answer it just in case..
We do use the caller ID, and if someone calls who has to hide their phone number from us then we do not need to talk with them unless we feel like it, same goes with out of are calls. Everyone who lives out of the state has our cell phones and or uses emails to contact us, it is how we finaly decided to deal with un wanted calls effectivly.
Business practice will not change with those who hammer cold calls. It is large business and even lager profits none will be willing to ignore. Fines do not come close to ammount of money coming in so they just pay the fine, change some thing and go back to it. Jail time might work, and not for the leaders only, but the ones on the phone. Same thing goes with spam, money, hurts, time eats at your life. Take 3 or 6 months of someones life for illegal telemarketing and they won't get anyone to sit on the phones.
Personally, I make a game out of it for my sake. I either make it a joke, or I get twised and want to break something(one) after a certain point with some of the calls. There was a time when we would get 10 to 20 calls a week. I've even had calls from out of state wanting to get me into a Vacation in Miami and Cruise to the Bahamas. That is kind of stupid considering I live in Florida and frankly find the Bahamas nothing more than an outer bank sand bar.

lol
10 ways to make telemarketers wish they had a diffferent job(poor poor telemarketers they have to have the patience of Job)
1.) quote bible verses instead of answering questions
2.) repeat "no thank you I don't want any" over and over again till poor tm gives up and hangs up. (this could go on for hours with certain tms!)
3.) have a canned advertisement ready to play or read off to the tm when they call..."I'd like to offer you the perfect back scratcher , at a minimal fee , and with several extra bonuses....." usually irritates the #@%! out of them to hear it coming back at em.
4.) when they ask for a certain name ,give the baby the phone and go relax with a nice cup of coffee... it'll be a while .
5.)hum the jeopardy theme song while they are giving their schpiel
6.)put the phone in the refridgerator , wait five minutes, and check to see if they're still there. if they are witless enough to stay on the line that long... apologize and blame your recent cranial injury. then in the next breath say "hello..." like you've just picked up the phone.
7.)quote excerpts from your favorite , or least favorite book, preferably while chewing on some form of food.(make sure noone else is in the room as you could have puking background noise to deal with.)
8.)learn three sentences in some obscure language. when you answer say "ollo..." then speak those lines over and over. pray they don't know the obscure language.
9.)tell them how sexy they sound and ask for their number... even if they're the same sex.
10.) become a hillbilly and completely misunderstand what they are offering, get excited and shout through the house to nonexistent cousins and inlaws that you've won the lottery. start passing out the proverbial ceegars.(am married to a hillbilly have every right to use this scheme.
)ABOVE ALL, NEVER... I REPEAT... NEVER SAY THE WORDS" OK" , "YES", "OF COURSE", OR "SURE" these can be construed as affirmatives and be very costly to you. I know the local paper asked me if I was (my name here) I said yes. what is this about? that's all it took to get the paper delivered whether I wanted it or not. and took me four months to get them off my back with their collection people.(note, I also said I don't want the paper, the person developed selective hearing loss )
Oh ..wait..
