Problems with Snapping and Turning 'off' Edge Rollup,

Snapping has never worked great even from 2.0.  This is so annoying.  Trying to line-up windows with each other is a nighmare.  80% of the time it does not snap into place correctly and I spend a minute aligning one window.

Holding Shift to turn off Snapping has HUGE lags.  After I resize the edge of a window and release the mouse button and shift key, the window keeps resizing for about 10-15 seconds.  This has been this way from v2.0 as well..

Turning 'off' 'Roll Up Fences placed on edge of screen' doesn't seem to work.  Maybe I don't understand how it's supposed to work.  But I have it off, and when I move windows near the edge of the screen, they still automatically snap to the edge and roll up!!  Now do I stop this action???

What you describe is not usual.

For your first issue, what is your snapping size set to?

And for your third issue, Fences will always snap to edge but they will not roll up if that setting is unchecked.

The lag may need the support team to help identify.  YOu can contact them at https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/default_import/Tickets/Submit

I have it set to 3 pixels apart when moving.  I've had it set to 1-5 with same bad behavior.

Do you mean they will not roll up, even if 'Double click fence titlebar to roll up' is checked and you double click on the titlebar?
Or if you check the 'View/Roll Up Fence' checkmark in the window's menus, they also will not roll up?

I'm confused as to exactly what this 'Roll up Fences placed on edge of screen' setting does..    Because if I leave that unchecked, and have a window snapped to the edge of the screen..  It rolls up the same way as if it's not snapped to the edge.  I can check the Roll up Fence menu item to do it, or double click on the titlebar (with that option enabled) to do it.  So, it doesn't act any different when snapped to the edge.

If you enable #1, fences have the ability to roll up

If you enable #2, fences will roll up when you double click the titlebar.  If this is not enabled, you would have to right-click -> view to roll up

If you enable #3, Fences on the top and bottom edges of your screen will automatically roll up/down so only the titlebar is showing.  If not enabled, a fence dragged to the top and bottom edge will snap to the edge but NOT roll up.

I hope this helps.

Ok, thanks.  That does help.  It clears up my confusion about #3 because if that is how it works, then it is not working for me.

Here is a screenshot of my desktop.  You can see that I have several windows snapped to the bottom of my upper monitor, and they all have rolled up.  I moved my mouse over the one called 'Controller Layouts' and it has unrolled for me.  And in the Fences Settings window you can see that I do not have that #3 Option checked to roll up fences at the edge of the screen.  So they should not roll up.

However, they do function they same way as non-docked to the edge windows do.  I can turn on rollup fence for that window with title bar double click and the View menu item checkmark.  And this does turn rollup fence on or off for that window.  But the #3 option does not have any effect or change the rollup functionality in any way than a normal non-docked to the edge window.

So, either I am greatly confused, which is possible.  Or this does not work.

Actually, the Snapping problem when trying to align windows is a much bigger problem.  It took forever to align all of the windows that I have.  Should I keep the 'Keep Fences lined up when moving' option turned off?  I always had that one, but that may be my problem as it seems to make it snap in odd places.

Bump.

If you are having problems aligning fences then I would suggest disabling the snapping while adjusting them.

For the other issues I would recommend contacting support.
