Problem with window resizing on 4K resolution

Unable to resize windows from certain edges when the screen resolution is 3840x2160

UPDATE: As of WindowBlinds 10.56 Beta, the issue has been fixed.

I'm not completely sure whether this is an issue with WindowBlinds or with the styles themselves, but it affects quite a few styles on my 4K display. I've been experiencing this for months, but I generally just ignored it, until today, when I noticed a few things that I hadn't noticed before. The problem is that it is impossible to resize windows from certain edges. The edges that won't resize vary depending on the applied style, but usually any thick edges are not affected by the issue. That leads me to believe that edges below a certain thickness are not being scaled up enough, resulting in edges that are too thin to be grabbed. Furthermore, this problem occurs when the display resolution is set to the default 3840x2160, but not when it is set to 1920x1080.

I tried using SkinStudio to adjust the window frames, but I haven't had any luck with it so far. I made the edges thicker, but it still did not solve any problems.

Styles that I tested:

  • Resize not working properly: Ansaro, Aragon, Coal, CompleX, Dark Realm, GrayTex, Shimmer, Trexal, Vantage, Diamond, Echo, The Captain
  • Resize fully working: Beyond, Crux, Digital, Talix, Steam System - Gray, Alpha Alpha, Soft Blue, Tech I, Unify, Acrylic 7, Corporate, Eva, Ice, Lantana, Modern, Precision, Win8, Win8 Metro

I've posted a screenshot that shows an example of the issue (theme is Ansaro):

4k is still tech new technology and im not sure if the apps 4k ready and even if it is alot of the themes would have to be reconverted to a 4k resolution.i think i saw a topic awhile back asking if theres a way to make 4k themes but unsure

I'm sure Stardock is gearing up for the 4K capability, cause in the latest version of Skin Studio (app for designing themed skins) there is a button to build hi dpi resolution images, but as a skinner myself, I can't find any documentation has to how to perform this task, so I'm at a loss on how to use this new feature... :annoyed:

Not sure it's just 4k. If one make their desktop size larger say to 125% or more. The WindowBlind gets mess up. Just uploaded a post with this question to see if an answer is available

That should not be the case.

With WB 10.5 and higher WB should scale the theme just fine with dpi (you may need to reapply)

What problems are you having with that?

I am pleased to say the issue with the particular skins which do not resize correctly when at 4K resolution has been found and resolved for the next update.

Those skins have shadows as part of the skin frames vs separate frames and there was a scaling issue with the sizing of those.

Neil not really having a problem myself. I had a post but received no replies. So this is all I was asking and if the images are needed.

In SKS 10 there is a place to install 6 Hi Res images for every image in every section. No previous versions had this. So from what I'm reading above from you is they aren't required. So why is this section showing?

You can create your own high res images as obviously the ones used by WB without others will be blown up.  The other images are used so instead of blowing it up to say 2x the size, it can use the 200% version which is twice the size (and thus looks sharper).  Think of it as zooming in to the image in photoshop vs having a higher res copy.

Neil so are you saying the images need to be twice as large as the originals?

No, I am saying each dpi would ideally have its own copy.

So to support 125% perfectly you would have a version scaled to 125% the original dimensions, 150% would have scaled 150% etc.

It is like icons.  You have 32x32, 48x48, 64x64 etc.

WB will always scale from the lowest res versions currently unless other images are provided.
