Yay....100,000 downloads....

Well, it took a squillion years, but enough 'grey-lovers' finally managed to get me to 100,000...and nary a bot was used to do it, either...

Yes, I know....some people get 10,000 in a day, but they have oodles more 'stuff', and clearly an active Fan Club, dedicated to the task of world domination...

/me goes off to update his own ad nauseum to thrust them into the limelight yet again, abusing the system with alacrity.

BTW....update 'abuse' is both 'rife' and unacceptable.
It should only be when there is valid, justifiable bug-fixing or error-correction involved, not for modding a wall to the next shade, one by one in the 16.7 million in a true colour spectrum...

What irks muchly is that the works in Windowblinds seemingly attracting the most attention/downloads are utterly uninspiring drivel, nothing more than a re-hashed standard XP interface....no imagination or creativity involved, just pump out another colour combo and call it a 'catch-phrase' name.

Is it really a fact that 'Joe Average' really DOES like 'average' skins, when there is available creative works like 'Borg', and other older works which may not be fully WB4 compatible but at least show a spark of creative individuality.

Just imagine the fame and fortune awaiting me were I to name my next Bryce 'disaster'..."Still trapped in XP Professional".....killa success - the name is sooo important...

jafo - this used to be a standing joke in aerospace: "Sorry that you're all laid off lads, but management has shifted your funding to a program with a much cooler sounding acronym."

Hey....Congrads Jafo!
Given a lot of your downloads are of the Litestep variety, that's a very impressive number.

I would only have to assume that 100,000 downloads of a skin/skins or a/and a program that I never even heard of before
coming to this website is an impressive feat.... congratulations, Jafs....
You da man...

From Aqua on, there seems to be a need to emulate the next OS before the rest of the world can buy it, or just appear to have a different one without buying it.

It reminds me of the kits they sell for cars; a sports car body to put onto a Volkswagen or some such. A very 'poseur' thing to do, in my opinion, anyway. If you like sports cars, the appearance is gravy, the real admiration is reserved for the mechanics. To me, an Aqua interface is pretty, but it is like driving a Volkswagen disguised as a ferrari... or more accurately mechanically, a vw bug disguised as a vw scirocco. The XP and Longhorn stuff I understand even less, since there isn't even anything especially eye-catching about them.

I don't mean any disrespect to the skinners that do work based on such. People want it, you give it to them. Why people want it when there are far more beautiful and individual styles, though, is beyond me. I got disgruntled about the time Aqua started catching on, and I have had a hard time doing much since. Several others seemed to have slowed their production since then, too. Maybe we just got disgruntled with the audience?

Never thought there were so much 'grey lovers' maby I should try making some gray

There's nothing wrong with grey skins, though some people seem to react badly to them. Here's a couple of favourable comments from two of my grey skins:

1) Dude, there's a dif between 'clean' and 'sparse' this plain gray stuff depresses me.

2) I believe that when the majority of a skin is either battleship gray or silver....something is lacking in one's imagination. Turn the colors UP (puke icon censored)

You can't please everyone all the time...

Oddly enough, my two grey skins amass 30000 downloads between them - so someone out there likes grey
