FAQ: Frequently Asked Question

Q: What is military?

A: Military is used for planetary defenses building. They are also used for Hyperion Shrinker, Hyperion Logistics etc.

Q: Do research, manufacturing and military production carry over?

A: Yes, they carry over. For example with a shipyard with 1000 military manufacturing points and a ship costing 100 manufacturing points. The shipyard can continue to build 9 additional ships even if you direct manufacturing points away from the ship yard.

Q: On the planet window, what are the number and adjancy bonus?

A: Each tile on a planet may have a bonus to a specific type of resource (wealth, tourism, manufacturing, research, military). A +1 provides a +1 level to the building on the tile. I believe (without actually having tested it) that a basic factory with 25% and a +1 provides another +5% totalling 30%.

Q: Do research, manufacturing and military production carry over?
End of quote

As far as played till now (40h) manufacturing and military production do not carry over.
that means even if you have 1000 manufacturing and the ship costs 100 points,
only one ship is being built in one turn.
Its not possible to build several things at once like (5 ships, 3 buildings) in one turn with
one planet/shipyard.

Research also does not carry over -> you can't finish two research projects in one turn.
(Sometimes it did carry over but never completed more than one research)

Carryover means that the points spent are stored for the next turn, being applied to the next project.

If you spend 1000 points on a ship that costs 100 to build, next turn you will have the ship build, and you will have 900 carryover points waiting to be dumped into that turn's ship. So now you can set manufacturing to zero, and for each of the next 9 turns, you will have one new 100 point ship be build anyways.

You can see the amount of carryover manufacturing points by hovering over the blank space on the shipyard queue or the manufacturing queue.

Research works the exact same way, the points above what you needed to complete the current research item get added to the next turn's research points, applied to the next project you select. I do not know of a way to see carryover research points like you can with carryover manufacturing points.

Yes you can - you can complete as many research projects in a connected tree as you have research points for. You just have to select the last tech in the line that you want to research. One caveat to this is that, by default, the top selection in any intervening specialisation tech will be researched, so this is not effective if you want to choose another option. You can, however, select one of the specialisation techs as the last in your line of research and that selection will stick.

Sorry, that was my misunderstanding. Didn't even knew that this was possible.
I thought that carry over meant using all production/research at several projects at once.

But where do I see how much stored overproduction - social/military I have after
shifting planetary focus? I see the hammer symbol over the planet, but it doesn't say
how much MP I've got left.

As was said, if you move your mouse to the lower right hand production queue panel (in the colony screen)  and hover over a blank space, it will show you how much carryover you have currently.

also true for the bottom of the shipyard que  the big problem with this is that you have to hover over empty space meaning if you have like 5+ buildings in your planet que or like 10 in your shipyard there is no empty space
