WTF? I just got an email offering me 1-year access to WinCustomize for $4.99.

I already have access to this site and have had for years.

So what's up? Is this becoming a pay site or what?

As long as you have bought a Stardock product you will have access.  This is more for people who do not.

Ah, well, I've bought lots of different things over the years and there was a point where I was cut off from downloading anything unless I bought something else. Only happened the one time, but.......

Hehe, that reminds me.  Somebody was selling badges for a football club from a stand erected in our local shopping centre the other day, and I just couldn't help myself when he pestered the crap outta me to buy some:

"Badges? I don't need no steeenkin' badges." in my best Mexican accent.

I walked away and he was left scratching his head in bewilderment.... s'pose  I could have told him it was a line from the movie, Treasure of the Sierra Madras, but I still reckon he'd have been none the wiser, being a teen something and exhibiting a largely vacant look on his dial.

WinCustomize has nearly always had a subscription option available.

If you purchase a Stardock product, you get 1 year of unlimited downloads but that does not give you all the benefits of a subscription like removal of ads.

Starkers, you're too funny!

I love that line, and I think Mel Brooks used it in Blazing Saddles, too.   :star:

Yeah, I think you may be right.  It has been a while since I saw Blazing Saddles, but I have an idea it was used when the sheriff, Cleavon Little was trying to recruit some deputies.  There were some great actors in that movie... a couple of my favourites being Gene Wilder and Slim Pickens.

:)

Oh well, at least we got the right movie.   It must have been all of 30 - 35 years since I last saw it, however, so at +61 I'm excusing myself for the memory lapse.
