Joan Rivers, the acid-tongued comedian whose unvarnished sense of humor drew criticism as well as laughs for decades, has died Thursday at age 81.

to go and have a vocal cord procedure done at a 'private clinic' at 81 was foolhardy... and irresponsible of the clinic to allow it... will be interesting to see what the NY Health Department says about that....

when it's your time... it's your time... but when it's cut short unnecessarily... that's unfortunate... :-|

Actually syd tens of thousands of vocal cord procedures are done on an outpatient basis in surgi-centers here every year without outcomes like that...mishaps happen, though. Simple probability tells us that. They happen in hospitals as well, so that's no protection. In fact, one could pick up a superbug there and it might be curtains that way, too. It's sad when they happen to anyone. 

I don't believe in the 'when it's your time' thing because I don't wear a watch much of the time and I absolutely refuse to live forever.
