Please let me idle

Am I missing some UI function that allows me to idle a colony? I cannot go to the next turn until I tell it to do something when there are open tiles and nothing in the queue. In GalCiv2 it was sometimes prudent to idle a colony's social production while tiles were open in order to either a) put those resources toward military production, or b) not incur maintenance costs until I could afford it.

Maybe these reasons don't make sense in GalCiv3. And yes I can put the Manufacturing to 0, but I still have to queue something.

If I move the "slider" to the far right I don't have to queue anything. Looked like all/much of the effort was then directed to the planet's assigned shipyard. Do you have the planet assigned to support a shipyard? Even one really far away?  This may not actually "idle" the planet, but I don't have to deal with building something I don't want.  Of course, auto-upgrades won't get built without sliding back to local production.

That is why the projects are so nice. You can just leave everything as is without having to build anything and when upgrades come, its immediately put on the back end of the list.

I'm kind of torn since if the planet isn't building I want everything going to a shipyard.  But having to mess with the settings for an upgrade is a definite hassle--would be nice to have an option that automatically shifts the slider to my preferred setting if an upgrade is queued and then back to another preferred setting when finished.

True. That would be a nice option. Maybe something coming with the governors and the AI.

Or better,

Once a Planet is tied to a shipyard, there should be a project that "devotes maximum resources to Shipyard"

I think what you are looking for might be in the game once we get governors. On one of the streams Paul was talking about wanting to be able to put conditionals on the governors, so you'd be able to do something like "if there are up-gradable tiles, 50% social and 50% military; if not, 100% military." If this actually happens, you should have to do a lot less macro.
