Why can't dragons fly?

Air elementals can fly so the capability does exist.   Seems like they should be able to move at road speed everywhere, even over mountains.

If they are not supposed to fly why do they have wings?

How about taking away the wings and calling them dinosaurs?

LOL!  I wondered the same thing,  but, it might be a balance thing.  They are crazy powerful all ready!

End of quote

A dragon without wings is a Worm (or Wyrm if you'd like).   The wings on the elemental dragons are ornamental.   Like the T-Rexes too short arms.

These dragons didn't eat enough limestone to fly. After the cataclysm the limestone deposits went missing and thus, no flying dragons. (reference 'flight of the dragons')

It is a simple enough thing to mod into the game.

Agreed. Dragons should have the ability to fly.

They could fly when they were small. But then they ate too much human and got too fat. Hence the no flying part.

Ehh, so these dragons don't fly.

I don't see chickens cruising the skies, and they have wings. ;)

End of Leo's quote

Yeah, I agree.  if you throw a chicken up in the air it can only fly, like maybe one tile.  I dont need flying dragons.

That and you can eat chicken.

They're too fat.

If I were you guys I would not start pissing off dragons...

Lets quietly change the subject....

I did some quest last night where I earned a dragon killing spell.   I wonder if this is a dragon-be-gone one hit wonder spell now

smeagolheart, I don't want to disappoint you. But I'm gonna spoiler you nevertheless: the Spell from Vatula the "Vatula's Dragonslayer" has no effect. It just costs mana.

No effect?   None?   Just a waste of mana?   Is this a bug or a RP trick on player because the quest giver was so shifty?

If you finish the quest, the creator of the spell will inform you his deepest apologies.

Now, if if he could remove the spell from all my hotbars as well, I would be more forgiving....

Well sjaminei, edit the quest to give you a dragon killing scroll instead of a dragon killing spell to annoy you with. It is a one off spell that you find doesn't work and it doesn't stay in your inventory as it is spent during the battle. You can easily set up the scroll to cost the user Mana so it still has the same grumbling effect of doing nothing and costing you the same stuff.

This would be my fix to the otherwise annoying spell that lives within your spellbook and should be forgotten.

Well maybe, just maybe, this is all a ruse and the Spell "Vatula's Dragonslayer" is working 100% against the Master Quest's last enemy aka the Dragonrider.

I don't know, I never tried it O:)

The quest does grant you the most powerful item in the game. Well, for a mage at least.

That is certainly a powerful item but I would beg to differ.

Yes +50% more magic damage is very good, but there is also the Necromancer robe which gives 20 armor, 20 spell resistance, 20 spell mastery and is equipable from the start if you manage to finish its quest.
