BeOS Theme anyone?

Hiya.

We have n+1 MacOS/OSX/WinXP themes to choose for, but only old and dated scrapes from a "BeOS theme". We got a WB skin by EFIX which dates.. um. back. (and has a weird dislocation on the deactive-titlebar on my XP).
Then we have a nice OB theme by Alexandrie which is the newest thing and in my opinion, doesn't need anything else. Then, the icons are all 32x32 256 color and doesn't cover enough (missing most "XP-icons").

So, what we'd need, is a complete (and updated) BeOS theme with (at least) WB, OB and IP (with at least 48x48 icons) themes. (CursorXP and MediaPlayer/WinAMP wouldn't hurt.)

I'm willing to help as much as I can (no real graphics talent, so I'm not really any help .

But I do have BeOS installed, so I can provide source material (if, for some reason, something isn't on the net already...

I'm hoping that some artist is also a BeOS-liker and will do it, *pretty please?*

When I search this site for BeOS, I find 11 skins for different applications, including several for WindowBlinds. https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?searchtext=beos&sort=updatedate&order=Descending&library=0

Yes, but as said, they are horribly out-of-date (except Alexandrie's OB).
Any icons that are found (not here) are at most 32x32 256 color.

I'm in the process of making new icons (my first, might take "a little" time). But, the EFIX' WB skin has a bug and I can't do squat with SkinStudio...

Ohwell, maybe I'm the only one (anymore) who thinks that the BeOS interface is far superior to any Windows.

It may superior to the one of Windows, but not superior aesthetically than original ones from Treetog, Alexandrie or MikeB himself (to name just a few).

Yes....we DO know what BeOS is.....I have 4.5's box within arm's reach, even now...

Generally, BeOS ports become as boring as quickly as OS-X or XP, for that matter...

OS ports are difficult mainly because artists hesitate to spend a lot of time on other people's graphics. I'm not sure I could stomach spending days cutting and pasting together a skin or theme to imitate a piece of boxed software, no matter how different or aesthetically pleasing that software may be.

The few times I have used OS ports, I've felt kinda goofy when people have said "Wow, you're running(insert OS)?!?!". They always look at you like you were trying to look l33t. Just my 2pp, others may feel differently.

if you're trying to shock people, i find that using hardcore porn for your wallpaper is far more effective than os port windowblinds themes.. at least in my experience. it may depend on your office.

Most people that I have worked with spend the majority of on-the-clock hours trolling for hardcore porn, so in those circumstances I find a good Barry Manilow mp3 goes a lot further to shock and dismay... (Copa Cabana will cause a room full of geeks to claw out their eyes and drink lye)

hmm... i think next i'll try a wallpaper cycling program with shots of barry manilow and wayne newton. i'll throw in one or two shots of nabisco fig newtons and anna nicole smith.

that should do it.

How about porn shots of Barry Manilow to the dulcet tones of Pamela Anderson's warbling.....in Aqua with yellow header tags...

It's better if you try to use the BEos original system.
- You can download the Personal Edition here http://www.bebits.com/app/2680 This is a good start point to BEos, it don't touches your Windows startup and don't makes a partition
- You can download the entire BEos system, plus driver charged (nVidia, Radeon, some soundcards) freely here http://www.beosonline.com/index.php?seite=english . This is the complete BEos, so it will be good if you make the partitioning before using a Windows program. NOTE: you can't use USB mouses and inboard sound systems in BEos. Don't worry if your graphics card isn't available, you can download their driver after the installation here: http://www.bebits.com

About the icons, BEos uses 256 bits graphics and 32x32 max sizes, so if you find any Icon Pack higher sized these are not the real BEos icons. You can find lots of icons on BeBits, and links to other sites that contain lots of like-BEos icons (specially for OSX); you can convert them and use (in a personal way). Dont forget:

YOU CAN'T PORT/DISTRIBUTE icons create by others without their consentment
