Would like to see less exp penalty for 2nd hero

I enjoy it more with two heroes (or sovereign + a hero) leading each army. Can get more combinations of abilities. But I don't do that much, because the heroes get so much less exp.

Idea: Have the 2nd hero only reduce the exp of each hero by 1/3. So each would get 2/3 of what they would have got, had they led a similar strength army solo.

Yes, that means the optimal strategy for leveling heroes would be to pair them like this. That would be fine with me.

Seconded. The shared experience really feels clumsy now, especially as the size of the army is limited and the groups of monsters have been made larger since FE.

Edit your soverign divides battle xp 1 to 0. Nice one if you like me makes a commander for roads and bonusxp. But yes would be nice if i didnt have to manually change that.

Some suggestions from me.

Maybe create a spell, maybe call it Mentor. It can have the following effects:

1) One time experience share, 50% exp of the mentor is given for free to the mentee, the mentor doesn't lost any exp. Maybe the spell cost is high, depends on the Mentor exp or level.

Or

2) 2 Choosen heroes will be a mentor and a mentee, the spell cost mana maintenance, but these mentor and mentee won't have to divide their experience if they fight together at the same army. The higher their combined level, the higher the mana maintenance cost.

I remember Stardock employees actually defending the removal of encumbrance against complaints. That was an easy argument to make though, they just removed a layer of abstraction from the effect of equipping heavy stuff. I don't think a strong argument can be made that the XP split has any positive effect on the game, especially now that it is common to get 8-11 heroes in a game. If you play a whole game and don't sit at least half your heroes on the sidelines, you are working far too hard for very little gain. This should be a slam dunk change, I just don't get it.

Agree whole-heartedly.

Gaining a new champion should be an exciting event, and should give you/your faction a power spike. This is currently not the case, because after two or sometimes three champions, the rest are just sitting in cities for -unrest. Totally underwhelming. Why should you be punished for stacking champions/sovereigns? Or at least, why punished so severely? On higher difficulties, the game moves quickly and if you stack champs yours will never be able to match levels with your opponents. And it's not easy to train two or three full armies worth of units to go with your champions. That really slows down your tech/infrastructure rate.

Extra champions right now is almost a burden. At the very least, it's very unsatisfying. "Oh sweet, got a new skeleton dude! Now which city needs -unrest? See you never skeletonman!" Ugh.

Suggestion: instead of 1/N , why not 2/N+1 where N=number of heroes

Maybe certain techs could reduce the penalty as well? (bring back the quest line of techs, and have the quest line reduce the XP penalty, or allow for greater hero stacking without penalty?)

I find this to be more of an issue with low level champions at the start of each game. When I get the first and second champions, I usually have to park them in a city for a while but I would love to take them around with my Sovereign.

Suggestion: Champions lower than a certain level (5? 10?) should be "Squires" which do not further split the experience when grouped with another Champion or with your Sovereign.

I like this idea.

Can a quest be created that removes the xp penalty when two heroes are together?

I don't mind the xp penalty for the most part, but it would be cool if I could complete a repeatable quest to "prove" the two heroes are compatible enough to fight together. Then again, I do like quests, so the more the merrier.

I'm in agreement with a two-thirds experience split per hero in a two-hero party. It makes sense, especially with the way monster groups have become both larger and tougher in some respects.
