I thought you were going to say that the piano was not masculine.

Na.... I think humans get gyped by separating things into masculine or feminine. I think someone skilled in anything is really awsome. I used to think that one really great thing about the internet was that people could just present with their minds and thoughts and avoid a lot of unfair bias. But everyone always wants to identify a/s/l. I really thought an ambiguous name would solve that, but as WOM pointed out... people are easily identifiable.

GM- don't read anything into what I said. I was just trying to get a rise out of you. OK? I think there are more male musicians that female. It does,t matter what you are.

There are lots of great male musicians. In fact, WOM, there is a fellow Texan, a huge and extremely talented man who is argueagbly the greatest classical pianist born in the U.S. His name is Van Cliburn.

But, I suppose your are right, if there is some statistic somewhere about male vs. female musicians, I think there probably are more female musicians. But then again, there are probably more females in the world too, so that might account for it.

Yo motion I did say that there are more male that female musicians. Please read it again(THAT should be THAN infront of female). There are more females tham males in the world. Thats been proven. Van Cliburn has a concert hall right here in Ft. Worth. Every year great young musicians compete for the Van Cliburn award. I'am going to have to take my own advise and check my grammer and spelling.

You're right Wise, I should read more carefully. My apologies.

I once, when I was 10, had the priviledge of attending one of Van Cliburn's concerts. My piano teacher at the time insisted that I go. To this day I'm gratefull she did. That concert survives as one of the greatest memories of my youth.

I'll bet it did. At the time it probably wasn't, but I'll bet it sure brings back a lot of great memories.

Ahhh. Beach Boys, Brian and company. Mamma's and Papa's (California Dreamin')

Regretably, one of the few States I haven't been too. That and Hawaii and Alaska. My wife and I plan to go there soon. San Fransico, L.A.

My wife's mother, who now lives in New York State, lived in Carmel CA. for a while. She says it's beautiful. I'd like to see it some day.

Motion, stay away from L.A. unless you bring your gas mask. The air is thick and your eyes will run until you leave. Carmel is beautiful. The top half and the bottom half are opposite from each other. And the center is like a desert.

I'll try and heed your advice Wise. Unfortunately, I have a wife that is a little 'starstruck' so I don't think I'll be able to keep her away from the whole L.A./Hollywood thing. We'll have to spend at least a day there to satisfy her need to gaze at 'stars'.

I think that is the first thing that ever disappointed me about the internet. I heard about it (the internet) a long time before I ever met it. I imagined this place with ideas and thoughts flowing freely, a place where nothing else really mattered much. I haven't known the internet all that long. I guess I express my disappointment too forcefully there.

In my site the communications I had with people were all free and easy, and then eventually they all got distant. Kind of strained. Later, I got a bunch of confessions.... seems all these women had "crushes" on me, thinking I was a man. On that message board there are far more women than men. I guess it represented a loss or something to them.

What the heck kind of siye was you on? A lonely heart site Maybe men are more perceptive than women. If a woman uses the keyboard like she really is, then you can tell she's a woman. If she tries hard not to sound like a woman then she will probably succeed. I guess my training as a salesperson helps me in that aspect.

It is a g-rated humor community over at MSN. Throughout the MSN communities, it seems there are far more women than men.

Ah well..... I have to go take care of a sick (maybe too old) fishie. Good night!

GM, Just to let you know, I did not guess right away about your gender. The way I figured it out, way back when, was by clicking on you name one time and then reading your public profile. The first name gave it away. As of yet, I don't know any males named Diane.

So, sometimes it isn't always apparent just from someones use of words what gender they are. However, when you take the easy route like me, it is easier to determine gender from the first name. ....(although this is not foolproof, I have a female friend named Billy and a male friend named Billy. )

You are sneaky motion. You took the easy way.
