I think your problem is that you have a celron. Celron's are wack in my opinion. 400 for a Celron is like 160 on a pentium 2... that's right Pentium 2!! My sister has a celron and it is soooo crappy... and it is also a Heward/Packard... another no-no

So my answer is the processor itself is bad. I am not a offical voice on this but I just had so much bad things happen with celron. Maybe if you can get a 800celron?

well, just 2 cents

Since you didn't desribe the errors in detail, I can't really offer much help. Your system does sound a bit on the dated side though. It is probably a combinination of 1)OS 2) CPU 3) RAM. I assume running OB and WB aren't causing serious problem on their own. WFX does put high momentary demands on your computer. As 98SE doesn't handle memory that well you will probably see problems. I doubt you will ever be able to use WFX at full functionality with your computer. Keep in mind this is only my opinion. The best place for questions of this sort is the newsgroups. You might find others with similar setups who have found ways around hardware limitations. Check here:

Your system is dated. I personally like AMD. I feel that they handle graphics better that Intel. Nothing less than 256mgs.

I guess I should have clarified the symptoms. "insert program name here" has caused an error in module ATIDRAE (my video driver) And Yes since I have just discovered this skining stuff & it seems cool I am planning on building another system & giving the present one to my 12 yr old daughter.

I have a similar system. Is your video part of the motherboard? If so I have discovered that the motherboard manufacturers tend to mess with the video card just enough that newer drivers can cause problems. Even newer drivers from the computer maker can cause problems (I hate you, IBM).

Running XP here. For some reason the drivers that came with XP work ok for games but not for FX. Newer drivers work ok with FX but not games.

To hashonboat (whatever that implies):

I too have what some users might call a "dated system". However, I've done my homework on the issue of graphics acceleration, and found that the appropriate upgrade feature would be the cpu itself (that is the intel celeron you currently have) . You will definitely need a new processor and an upgrade of ram would be necessary as well. I won't go into detail about correctly configuring the upgrade, but I will give you a reference that would be of great help... That is CNET.com click memory configurator at the bottom of the page...GOOD LUCK!!!

Celron is wack!!! get AMD or a Pentiium. Or a REALLY fast Celron

like a million mhz!!

If you are actually getting errors then it is highly likely to be your video drivers. Try toggling a few of the settings in the WB Advanced Configuration/Settings/Performace dialog. You could also try reducing hardware accelleration in Display Properties/Settings/Advanced... or try using the RageLTMan drivers at http://www.rage3d.com/files/drivers/rageltdriver.shtml.

The CPU should not be a huge issue, and will certainly not be causing errors. The video card is the limiting factor in this case (the OS admittedly won't help matters).
