No icons or fences by start windows 8 desktop

No icons or fences by start windows 8 desktop

When I start windows 8 and go to my desktop, I only see the taskbar and the background picture.

After a right click with the mouse, the fences appear.

How to configure fences to show fences right away?

I'm using Windows 8.1 Pro x64.Just upgrade to Fences 2.12 beta and still have the same issue.

Doesn't matter how long I leave the desktop, no Fences or Icons are show.

I can start apps from the the start bar and use them, but desktop icons will only shw up when I right-click on the desktop.

I don't have any other stardock products installed, only Fences.

Please help guys as this is really annoying every time you boot your PC.

Hi guys,

Any progress on getting this issue sorted yet?

Very annoying every time to right click at EVERY boot up!

Any new BETA's or something we can try yet?

End of DeanosT's quote

Nothing! Absolutely nothing! No explications nor excuses.

Successfully uninstalled. I will never buy products of "Stardock".

Anyone still having this issue should open a support ticket with us if you have not already.

Please download and run the following utility:

http://sd.stardock.com/SDSupportTool.exe

This is a tool that we use to gather relevant log files and basic information about your computer. Once the utility finishes running, please attach the .zip file it creates on the desktop when you create a ticket here.

This information will be forwarded to the developers so we can try to find a resolution ASAP.

But it is EVERY user with Windows 8 or higher, not just us!

Haven't you guys been reading your own forums and MANY other forums about this issue?

Surely hundreds of people have already sent you stuff....

Am I wrong?

I will send the info, but not going to open tickets.

Is there an email I can send the file to?

It is most definitely not EVERY user of Windows 8 or higher. It is a notable minority. We have not seen a ticket on this issue lately and when we do it is for older versions of Fences. You can email the info to support@stardock.com

No problems....
I ran the support thing.

Are there any particular files in there that you guys need?

Sorry, but just not sure why you need to every directory and file structure that is on my PC...
Just a bit too much personal stuff for me to be sending out to you guys.

If you let me know which files you need in particular, I will gladly send them along.

The support tool does not collect info on every file and folder structure on your machine. What we would need, at the very least, is sdreg, dxdiag, sysinfo, and taskmem.

I just installed fences 2.13 on my windows 8.1 computer and had the same problem. After two days of reading and head scratching, I checked my "start-up" items and Fences was disabled as a start up item. I enabled it to load on start up and all is well now.

Mikkee I do not know. I almost hated to make this post .......... but it worked for me and I have been battling it for three days now. I am going ahead and buy the program when the trial runs out!
Thanks for your post!
We have ours working right now tho!
Have a great day!

Thanks for sharing info but in my case it does not work. Still need right/left mous button click to load icons.

This is so frustrating. I've tried everything, but the only solution for me is right-clicking on the desktop or starting windows explorer.

I'm not going to stop using the software because of this--yet--but it really is annoying.

Windows 8.1 64 Fences 2.13.

Glad I'm not the only one with this.

I have a brand new laptop running Win8.1-64 and Fences 2.13

I've tried adding fences.exe to startup, but that didn't help.

Surely there has to be a solution for this?

I am still having this problem; the only way I have gotten fences to work at all (short of right clicking the desktop or starting explorer.exe) is to force fences to start delayed.

This isn't really a satisfactory solution, as everything else is up and running on my computer(s) and I have to wait for fences.

This is a very frustrating situation.

maxer221 - We have this logged with the developers and in the meantime have that work around.
