Sometimes if i click the start button really fast several times, like double-click or triple-click, it hangs and it seems that the explorer process restarts itself. Then everything becomes normal.

AH yes, I remember that one now, and that is a beast to get rid of. Will try to eliminate the beasty once again, and I'll let you know if I have any more troubles. So far, no crashes after setting the search scope to look outside libraries, however.

I had explorer.exe restart also...  It happened right after I tried to do a search via Window-Key and then typing.  Using v1.11.  Let me know how else I can help.

I too am experiencing the same. I also am using the most recent release of Start8 (v1.11). However in my case it does not occur each and every time: sometimes I can open the start menu and search and find and open what I am looking for without any freeze/crash and explorer restart. But every now and then, what you described happens on my setup as well.

It would be good to discover both the cause and cure, because at best it is frustrating, at worst unusable.

Could you try running Start8Tweak (in the Start8 directory) and disabling some of the search types.  I would try disabling control panel initially and see if that helps.

I suspect there is some file somewhere thats upsetting the search somehow.

Hi Neil,

As you suggested, I have now disabled the Control Panel in Start8tweak, and will run it a awhile like that and see what happens. And if or when it occurs again, I'll disable another, etc..

As strange as it sounds, it is too bad that it occurs randomly on my machine; if it did act up each and every time, then we might have a much better chance to find and correct what's causing it.
