bug process explorer restarting

bug process explorer restarting

Sometimes if i click the start button really fast several times, like double-click or triple-click, it hangs and it seems that the explorer process restarts itself. Then everything becomes normal.

Happen again with single click. I dont think it's happening less.

I tried only once fast clicking and didn't crash. I dont know if the single-click isn't solved when the fast clicking is.

What does the event log show?

Just wanted to say Build 1.02 crashed Windows Explorer again for me too this morning.

The way I got it to crash was I clicked on All Programs then scrolled up and down and then clicked the Start8 button a few times in a row and Start8 menu froze and the Windows Explorer restarted.

Ok I posted actually 2 different Event Logs which both happend right around the same time.

I'm also getting this error. I haven't been fast clicking like some of the others. I get it when I click on my pictures folder. Explorer.exe will end and restart instantly. It doesn't affect my work or anything, but anything that could resolve this would be great. Running the latest version of Start8. Included below is my error log.

Do you mean clicking on a shortcut on the start menu, clicking on a shortcut that opens a menu on the start menu, or just from normal explorer use?

I just clicked on the My Pictures shortcut on the Start Menu and it opens up the My Pictures folder. It then restarts there. It doesn't happen every time and seems to be very abnormal. (It happened twice in a few minutes yesterday, but it hasn't happened at all today)

I believe the reason has been tracked down as to why the 1.01 update did not resolve the problem.  The next update will have a modification for this.

I had the same issue and blamed Start8. Finally determined the culprit was Mozy Home. Uninstalled Mozy, explorer.exe is now rock solid.

i dont have Mozy and i have explorer.exe issues sometimes when clicking start8 button one time...

When does the new version comes out? It's really being annoying getting explorer.exe restarting all the time.

Do you want me to try a beta version?

There should be a new build later this week.

Having a similar problem with v 1.10. Sometimes when I press Start button and very quickly begin to type my search, explorer.exe crashes. I am trying the "Search should include..." option to see if it continues. I had that box unchecked when the errors occurred. I will check it and see if it resolves the issue. Other atypical setup includes using the custom win8start.png image for start button, and I recently switched from the "Windows 7 Theme" with translucency enabled to the "Default Theme" without translucency. Taskbar translucency was enabled in both themes. If you need information via email, do not hesitate to contact me. (I apologize, I cannot figure out how to accept emails on the forums, just PM me I guess.)

I notice cmdlinext_x64.dll is one of the crash addresses.  Looking online this appears to be part of SecuROM and I suspect thats causing the problem here.
