what about moving prestige from early techs to later techs?

what about moving prestige from early techs to later techs?

it seems that it would solve multiple problems

-civ techs being the best choice for a long part of the game

-city growing too fast and with the new level up bonus its a bit too much

-making things improving growth a factor, right now you would NEVER enchant a city with growth or value a champion providing growth

after reading others opinions i changed slightly into

-moving prestige from first techs to other later techs

-others suggested later techs should provide more than 1

-consulates makes not much sense, the bonus could be moved into something else helping improving growth on demand late game if your empire need it

Here's your problem!  You decided to take on 34 settlements.  Do you really expect them to reliably grow without the proper infrastructure?

That is just it. The infrastructure ist there! I have a dozen Grocers/Bakeries/Butchers... I have honey from apiaries, fruit from orchards, grain, whatnot. Most of my settlements could support 1k people (200+ food per grain). I have a vast trade network, harbors, merchants, overflowing resources, schools and colleges. Each town has at least an Inn, most have festivals. It is all there. Infrastructure is not taken into account at all concerning growth atm once food isn't a problem anymore, which is mid-game the latest.

I completely get that prestige is bult in as a limiting factor. But right now, it is just not well balanced. You have too much at the early stages, and not enough later.

Personally I would like a more standard growth model where population growth is at least partially determined by buildings. Its been a while since I played MoM but from memory it had a fairly simple but nice population growth/maximum population model.

However I don't think there are likely to be changes of this significance before FE goes out...

Forget about prestiege....you don't even need it. My capital leveled at season 14 with only +1 prestiege.

If this game is suppose to last 500-800 seasons, there's some rejigg'n that needs doin'.

Okay, let's use those values to do some little math.

A city needs 50 population to reach level 2. Your first city starts with 30 pop. To reach level 2 in 14 turns, you would need a growth of at least 1.43. Every other city starts with 3 pop. Using the same growth-rate, it would take about 33 turns to reach level 2. Reaching level 3 would take ca. 105 additional turns, level 4 ca. 140 turns and level 5 ca. 180 turns. All in all, it would therefore take ca. 458 turns for a new level 1 city to reach level 5 using a growth-rate of 1.43. However, keeping the same growth-rate, while building new cities, is impossible without increasing prestige. Which leads to the conclusion, that prestige is not useless or can be forgotten about.

Cool. Thanks for doing the math.

I must have been getting extra prestiege from somewhere else then...cause I only had my champ and the city....I recall prestiege to be +1...but maybe that was a rounding on the display....and my city leveled on season 14.

Imo, under those circumstances, season 25 would be better balanced as that would push your level 5 city to be around the 700 season mark. Obviously, addition prestiege items will be required to hone that in more, especially with the existance of other cities in your empire.
