Patching needs a buff

Warning to all: not a troll post!

We need more patches, or more updates on patches, or more updates on progress on patches, or all 3.  Or of course, none of the above.....

If every member of the team did a developer diary at the end of the work day that took only 5 minutes to explain what they did (in a nutshell), we would be happy-ish

Maybe multiple patches should be released simultaneously, and when you go on ICO, you never know what your checksum will be...every game will be a surprise!!  Is this the game where jumping Orkies pwn, or is this the game where the Kol has super huge lazers????  Who knows!!!  Maybe it's the game where planets kill everything and all SC have RB...

Seconded.  We want to give feedback, but need something to give feedback on, and Beta 3 in its current state has been reviewed to death already.

I'm tired of people posting links to the "Known issues" thread, as if that means anything...

"Fixed Internally" has virtually no meaning when it comes to balance issues...about all it means is that the devs changed something, which for all we know has made issues worse...

IIRC, it was in the stream of v1.2x updates where Scramble Bombers was made to be ridiculously OP...the weakness of this ability had been known for some time and suggestions had been made, and in v1.2x the devs addressed the issue of this UP ability (AKA "Fixed Internally")...but instead of making things better, they made things worse...the abilty was so OP that Vasari absolutely dominated the early game simply because of one ship...TEC players were rare, and Advent players almost non-existant...

The point is that changes in and of themselves do not imply progress...changes have to be reviewed and vetted before one can claim that "improvement" has occurred....I have faith that SD is making great progress on the bugs and MDs, but for balance changes I have no idea what to expect...maybe things will be really good, or maybe things will be just as bad, and "Fixed Internally" gives no indication one way or the other...

if you weren't blinded by your flamboyant fanboism you would know that the "known issues" thread, just as Seleucia indicated, is completely worthless.

Fine, is this better?

No?

Typical hater.

Just tired of people saying that the devs don't care. If they didn't care they would have stopped at Diplomacy 1.00.

you could clearly see me thank him before you posted your snarky response to me on this thread.

fail out of context is fail.

I've seen you talk out both sides of your mouth. Hence my comment still stands.

This argument has cropped up more times than I'd like to count...one reoccuring problem is that people use blanket statements that don't distinguish between bugs/MDs and balance issues...

A known issues thread is very helpful for bugs/MDs which are rather objective and straightforward...however, for balance issues such a thread has little value...all it really indicates is that the devs have recognized an issue and have made relevant changes...it does not indicate that the issue has actually been fixed or that balance has been improved...

I'll reiterate that "Fixed Internally" is very encouraging when it comes to bugs and MDs (if SD says a bug is fixed, it probably is)...however, it has virtually no meaning for balance issues...until we actually can see and play with balance changes, the balance issue might as well be unaddressed...

I don't expect SD to release a detailed change log about an update that hasn't even come out...but you shouldn't expect us to shut up about balance issues on the sole basis that SD has acknowledged the issue...SEEING IS BELIEVING...I won't assume the balance issues are fixed just because some thread says they've been addressed...some game assets have been nerfed and/or buffed multiple times, so I think it's unwise to assume any given issue is fixed in one or two tries...

You have people railing SD at the same time others are lauding it for it's "great support"...in truth, though, SD's continual support points more towards their interest, dedication, and motives than it does their competency...it is awesome that SD supports its games, but the length and dedication of that support really has rather limited meaning...

Diplomacy v1.34 was released over 2 years after v1.00...you could look at that and say "Wow, that's impressive, they supported that game for over two years"...you could also look at that and say "Wow, it took them two years to get to this point?  And they still aren't done...."

The truth likely lies somewhere in the middle...SD has fixed lots of bugs, added lots of new content/features, and generally improved their games significantly through continual support...but at the same time, some long-standing and well-discussed issues went unaddressed through multiple patches...even to this day, one could argue there are unaddressed problems in Diplomacy v1.34, and certainly in Twilight of the Arnor v2.04...

Okay, I see your point Seleuceia.
