I found it, I know where it is, now how do I use it?

I'm talking about the "Add folder to library" function in OD+

I accidentally did it once. How did I do it? I'd love to link some folders into it as I have thousands of icons.

I'm confused as usual.

I'm so confussed I think it's yesterday.

Anyway this is the way I do it an it works fine. I go to the folder I want and right click on it then Sent to/ Desktop (Create Shortcut) Now I just drag it to the dock. Don't know how you keep your desktop shortcuts. After you are done you can either delete the shortcut on the desktop or hide them.

Easiest method Liz ^^^^^ What I do is delete the short cuts after putting them on the docks.

I believe this is what you want!

Frankief - All I get is the ability to use an exe program file doing it as you described. If I'm missing something I don't seem to see it. That is why I do it the way I said above. Liz is trying to add a folder.

Well, it clearly states "add folder to library" and as can be seen from the screen shot, that is how I added the folder "Vista Icons" which is where I have all of my personal icons stored. Don't know why it does not work the same for you! :meow: :maybe: The way I am reading her request is that she wants to have access to different icons for the dock shortcuts. If I am wrong than I digress.

You may be correct, I just can't get a folder shortcut from there only an exe. Except for one that is listed like My Documents which you can check the Show Folder as Menu. What ever works I guess.

You have something in th e Start In. Did you type that in there and that is how you were able to do it.

If that ever happens, you'll have to change your name to PornSmedley :D

I am right clicking the icon in the dock and choosing "settings" "customize this icon" the start in is automatic depending on where the current icon is stored. I don't get that first image all the time, mostly it goes directly to the second image where I have my icons stored since I added that folder eons ago. Hope this makes sense! X|

Frankief - thanks.

Ok thanks. I know how to change th eicon. I must be missing the whole post here. It sounded to me like Liz has a lot of icons in folders and wants to add folders to the dock so Liz could pick icons from the dock folders. My bad as I guess I am reading it incorectly. Bottom line is Liz will get the information you stated correctly.

No problem Dave! You are simply trying to help as was I. Just because we interpreted her post differently does not mean either of us is right or wrong! I suppose we can wait for her to chime in to see what the proper interpretation is! :inlove: At any rate, thanks for being a good community member and offering your assistance!

No no no. Not ON a dock. When you choose an ICON for your thing-a-ma-bob that lives on the dock it dumps you into a folder with some icons in the executable folder. Then up at the top is an address bar to go browse to find more icons to choose from. Good and nice, like it used to be. BUT there is a choice, "Add folder to library"  How do I do that?  (in the screen shot the Colorfulpaint icons are there - but if I started a new shortcut they wouldn't be a choice without browsing)

You simply click on "add folder" and a window opens so you can browse to the folder of your choice.

Man, sorry was I out in left field on this one

It don't do that. It lets you browse happily, then you have to have an icon to click on, and then all it does is use the icon and the folder isn't there. (except where it remembers the folder where you got the icon, you still have to browse again if you want to do another shortcut)

Well, I do not understand why it will not let you add the folder. Yes, the folder opens to let you select the icon. The next time you want to change an icon the folder you just added should appear in the list to the left. Yours is not doing this?

I want that icon available for all of my shortcuts. I have one folder with 300mb of icons. I'm not going to move it to the executable folder of the program. The problems I have been having lately I need just one less thing to mess with. I saw that add folder feature and thought it would be great. the older OD Plus automatically read C:\users\username\documents\stardock to find things. This new version does not, all it reads is the executables folders.

Liz, I am at a loss as to why this is not working for you. As you can see from my screenie, I browsed to "My Documents, downloads, Vista Icons choose the icon of my choice and once I closed out, the next time I open the configuration the folder I chose and all subfolders are included for my choosing. My icon folder is just a bit smaller than yours at 253 MBs. Perhaps I am still not understanding what you wish to accomplish as your screenie seems to show custom folders.
