Armistice

I didn't notice this in Diplomacy or the previous expansions, but I am really getting pissed off with the Armistice ability. I apologize if this has been addressed or is being looked at. I sifted through the first two pages of threads, though.

I'll preface this by saying I am not a big pvp guy. I like large matches, FFA between me and 9 other brutal or insane bots. PvP I'm sure this is a legit strat and fun and can be used to great effect, but Armistice is killing the flow of the game and a lot of the fun I used to find in Sins.

TEC bots seem to build 2-4 Akkan battleships with their fleets (their main ones anyway). This is nice, they have good abilities and can be useful in combat. But when both ships are sitting in a gravity well for... well, ever since they don't run out of antimatter when there's 3 of them and neither side can fire or do anything worthwhile because of the CONSTANT use of Armistice, it really just kills the drive to play. It seems the moment more than a handful of caps or a sizeable sub-cap fleet jumps in, armistice. Armistice until I leave, since they don't seem to run. So what can I do? The bots react faster than I can, using detonate anti-matter on a handful of ships instantly is beyond my abilities AFAIK, unless there's some trick to queue abilities while you can't use them. Even if you could, it's not really fixing the problem.

Please, I beg you, as somebody who's been playing Sins since day 1 (I still haven't gotten my t-shirt from that photo contest you guys held back in the day, damnit!), at least look into it. Having to stop fighting and dragging out fights well beyond what they should be is... it just breaks the flow of what I enjoy doing. If they're going to be in a position where they CONSTANTLY pop Armistice, they need to be running. If they're not running (not to be confused with them not being able to run), then they're either waiting, moving, or fighting.

I guess I'm just upset at having to get my fleet to meet up with a TEC group with 10 cap ships and a titan and 300 supply of ships only to have the entire fight stop the moment I hit the gravity well.

Indeed, Armistice needs to be fixed.

Just shut off the autocast devs!

From what I have seen around the forums the rebellion AI sucks at making a normal fleet (after you get a titan anyway) so it spams cap ships, This results in the akkan and subsequent armistice spam you have seen.

So this problem should fade a bit after the AI gets fixed, though I don't think they will really start on that till after the vasari come out. Just a guess though.

You need to have a crapload of bombers and try to lure the computer akkans away from one another so that you can snipe them down with a few passes once they are spread out.

You can also just retreat most of your fleet except for a carrier or LRF sniping force. The AI won't use ultimates if its in a position where it thinks it can win, so you maybe able to thin them out with a small, well equipped force focusing on the Akkans.

This could happen in previous versions of sins if you played with a mod that increased fleet supply and capital ship slots.  Otherwise I never really noticed it, but it is not a new issue.  But yes, it is infuriating and really slows down the pace of the game.  If you pull your fleet away the AI could take the planet, or just follow your fleet and you're no better off.  There aren't to many ways to deal with it unfortunately, usually make your fleet follow an Akkan around and hope that they will wipe it out fast before the next one uses Armistice, or try to wipe out the Akkan's anti-matter before it uses it. Sometimes it works but most often it doesn't.

It could be fixed by having the AI autocast it only when they are retreating from a battle or when they wait for reinforcing ships to arrive.
