Just finished first game in .76

Still comically easy on Hard difficulty, need to wait on AI changes.

I'll post some more detailed feedback later, but in short: Heroes are still ludicrous, Cloud Walk is still broken, and I never moved a single regular combat unit out of a city (I think I built... three, all game, maybe?).

City maintenence changes were a non-factor, I still wound up building basically every structure in every one of my cities, but that's related to the unit building (or lack thereof), so again, need to wait on AI.

Oh, and again didn't go very far up any of the tech trees.

However, upshot? Performance was a bit better (20-30 fps instead of 5-15!), and I only had a few crashes for the entirety of the game. That at least made me a bit happier :P

Also, mentioned before, but this just needs to change:

Two amulets, four rings, a backpack, three stones, a telescope, a compass, a horse, a turtle, and a partridge in a pear tree.

(also that hero who tried to kill Vetrar might have had better luck if he'd used a weapon that didn't deal cold damage)

I think a HOMM-style person to equip wouldn't go amiss. So a generous number of slots, but still limited to 1 helm, 1 amulet, 2 rings, 1 breastplate, 1 gauntlets, 1 weapon each hand and 4 charm slots. And a cloak.

Would be cool, and make it easy to swap items between heroes/champions with a screen like this.

i think you've got a good point there huayncapac, especially with trading intems between characters. trading items between characters in the same unit should be possible to do in the same window. one simple way is to have portraits available in that window so the player can just drop and drag items. click on one of the portraits with the mouse and units inventory screen comes up.

Try playing on ridiculous. I found it MUCH harder. The AI was very aggressive early game, and the huge nerf on hero levelling made it very hard to counter wave after wave of greyguard and other mid level troops.

The AI is more challenging for me on challenging now that I have played every faction a few times. Those dirty rats are using my designs to train some really difficult to beat units. I am specifically trying to get the AI to attack me in large scale battles. So far I have had a few good ones, but it was always me sitting outside one of their cities for a few turns to make sure they sent units to defend it. I actually had one battle where a unit I designed last game, Avante Guard, used his +3 to Init and Moves to sack my Archers. The AI then used Katarian Mounted Archers, another one of my better designs, to take half of Lady Irane's hitpoints, whom I have never needed to put armor on until now. It was rather alarming, but two rounds later the game froze...

I think the major point is that heroes like this are just too good in any way and the AI doesn't has something equal.

This hero stack-of-doom just kills multiple armies per turn, takes cities (look at this movement: 8!) and even if he got killed it comes back again at full strength in few turns.

One additional note re: city maintenence - I didn't bother to build any caravans, I still hate dealing with them so much I probably won't bother until doing so becomes necessary, which at the moment it's uh, not.

Good feedback. I'd be surprised if a paperdoll system wasn't created to help manage inventory. I sure hope so!

Thanks for posting the pic. Agree completely on this, too many items on one hero gets a little extreme. Plus it'd be nice to have a quick easy to see graphic that you are missing a certain type of armor item on a hero.

Should heroes that loose leave their equipment behind when they teleport away magically?

Or just add in a retreat option from tactical battles and offer actual death with an option to resurrect the fallen champions for 100g /level once you drag their body to the nearest town?
