I have Windows 7 SP1 x64 and WindowBlinds 7.2 build 297 purchased version. I recently had a meltdown and had to reinstall Windows I now have a fresh clean install of the OS. I installed WindowBlinds and it asked for my email and reg number, I puy them in and it took it just fine. I went to apply a skin and it asked again for the registration info, took it,  then did nothing. It never asked for the registration info again but it will not apply any skins. I did all you said:

Listed below are details of this Ticket.

   Ticket ID: ZGN-109255
   Subject: WindowBlinds 7.2 (build 297 - Windows 7
   Edition) - 64 bit OS
   Department: Object Desktop
   Priority: Support
   Status: Open

Why would this work on my last install which was kind of a mess as I had tons of software installed but not on a fresh install of Windows. Maybe I am missing some installation of a C++ component or a dotnet release or something.

Any ideas?

Joe

joelore - Windows update should have provided you with all the necessary components...

Perhaps if you open "Windows Update" and run it (just to see if you're fully updated) and check to see if your drivers (especially your graphics drivers) are up to snuff... ?

Not saying your problem lies there. Glad you sent the problem into Support. Just be patient (not an easy thing) because Support will have the weekend stuff to catch up with.

Is there a way to delete tickets? I have 2 older tickets, over one week, that have not been answered yet that are currently irrelivent.

Joe

I don't believe so... I would check my "junk email" or "spam" folders just to see whether they "went unanswered" or not, though.

If you post the ticket numbers we can try to get them cancelled tomorrow...

The three tickets that are now irrelivent are ZSY-331149, USQ-718034 and UDQ-442064, That will put this issue at the top. Those other ones were small issues related to before I had to restore Windows.

Thanks. :)

I actually wasn't happy with the image I used to restore so since I have the time, and the energy, I am going to do a full format and reinstall of Windows and see if that fixes it. If not then we know I have more to talk to support about. I really want this program to work and of course not being out $20 for nothing,

I will reply when I am done,

Joe

Ok, I didn't need to restore from the original disk. While I was getting ready to a friend of mine, who is the Windows 7 expert with the local Geek Squad called and he came over with his MRI disk and ran a battery of tests on my current install. System files are all intact, no viruses or malware etc.. etc.. he saw no reason to restore anything.

I tried reinstalling WindowBlinds while he was here and saw first hand that it is just not applying any themes. The curious thing is everytime I install it it asks for the registration code twice, once just after install and once just after choosing a theme then it does nothing. Can this be an activation issue? As you can see from my first post the program appears to be activated properly.

Judging from how old my very first ticket I ever subbmited to StarDock they take a LONG time to get back to you. How long do you think I will have to wait to use this program?

Should I try installing WB in safe mode?

Are you installing WindowBlinds using Impulse?

No. Not sure how to do that. I had Impulse installed and it would never recognize my registration number, even after applying that reg fix.

THis is interesting. THis last time I tried reinstalling WB I activated it and rebooted right away, as per instruction. THen I thought to check the "about" and here:

Your computer has a Windows Experience Index base score of 6.7
Your Windows Graphics Experience score is 6.7

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 7.2 (build 297 - Windows 7 Edition) - 64 bit OS

WindowBlinds is not installed correctly on this PC.  If you did not reboot after installing WindowBlinds 7 for the first time, then please reboot and try this again.(Generic PnP Monitor) 1 is attached to ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series

Wblind.dll      2011/06/11 15:55:20
Wblind64.dll      2011/06/11 15:55:08
Wbsrv.dll      2010/08/11 16:48:56

Wbload.dll           2010/06/07 15:59:25
Screen.exe      2010/06/07 15:59:43

It always said installed correctly before. WTF is going on with this program!!

Your best bet is to wait until support responds to your trouble ticket.  I will try and make them aware of this post tomorrow morning when they return to work.

Thanks, my family is freaking out over this. I have wanted WB for the longest time and they got it for me for fathers day and now that I want to start using it it does not work. I hope you understand my situation.

Thanks so much for anything you can do to expidite this.

Ok just for the hell of it I downloaded the trial version, installed it and it is working fine, so why isn't my paid version woeking?

With the paid version asking me for registration information twice it is starting to look like an activation issue.

ANy ideas on this now?

Does WIndowBlinds activate through Impulse? Because on StarDocks web site they have all my registration information but on the Impulse web site they have no record of my owning WindowBlinds.

There may have been some updates to WindowBlinds since you purchased it and the trial is the latest version that works with your operating system.

You will need to uninstall the trial version and reboot.  Then try the Register a Product (see below) and then after registering WB you should be able to install the latest version. Reboot after installing WB.

Yes. You would need to login with the same email that you used when you purchased WindowBlinds.  You will then be able to register it by clicking the Register a Product and entering the proper information in the fields.

If after this you still have issues with WB then please wait until I can inform support of this forum post in the morning.

I guess I will have to wait untill tomorrow. When I tried to do the register product thing in Impulse it rejected my info and said only registration numbers provided by StarDock will be accepted or something to that effect. I have all the original information StarDock sent me and I use cut/paste so I am not getting anything wrong. Well just posting this to say thanks and give an FYI on what I tried tonight.

Thanks again,

Oh and one last thing tonight, this is also for the techs. The paid installer I am using is the original one I downloaded the night I bought the software. Also keep in mind it worked once. I had it on and working for a few hours before I did that fresh Win 7 install so I know it should work at some point. We just have to put our finger on the problem.

THanks,

You need to stop all this installing/un-installing, trials, paid versions, etc.

You installed Impulse. Good. Did you create your account using the same email that you ordered Windowblinds from originally?

If not, then you need to merge accounts.

Do that here:  https://www.stardock.com/support/registrations/

Source account: The one you created NOT with the original ordering email.

Destination account: The one you DID order your original windowblinds from.

After that is done, and the un-installation of however many installations of windowblinds you have on your machine is done (and I recommend you do this with ccleaner, as well as removing all windowblinds registry keys with the registry tool in ccleaner - which is free on the web at http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download use the links at the bottom of the gray box (Filehippo)), reboot.

Then, logon to Impulse with your Destination account email and password. You should find Windowblind "available for download" in the "My Software" tab.

If it isn't, let us know on this thread.

I must have done something wrong. I followed your instruction exactly but there are no registered programs in my impulse "My Software" at all. Either in the program or in My Account on the web site.

With respect to this. Does migrating the registration information take time, say 24 hrs for example, or should it be instantaneous?

Not to beat a dead horse here but it seems like Impulse is not getting my registration info from Starddock because I can still get to Stardocks download page with my serial number etc but there is no record that I own WB on Impulse.
