Firefox 4 bug or a setting issue?

Search Box

I have just downloaded the new Firefox 4. I have already experienced a problem with it. I use to be able to click on something in my search bar and have my browser open with possible matches. For example if I typed in hotmail in the search bar I could later click on it and have a page open with hotmail links. Now for whatever reason when i click on something nothing happens. I went as far as uninstalling it with revo uninstaller but even a fresh installation did nothing. It does not matter what search box I use. I have tried the google toolbar search box and the default one that comes with FireFox and both are the same

Anyone else experiencing this or do you know of a solution?

I just went back to version 3.6.16 and all is normal again. I guess i will not be using version 4.

Seems FF4 isn't as good as all the hype. There are I believe, compatibility issues with it and certain web pages/sites. Beats the hell out of me why though. I also rolled back to a previous version. 3.6.14

Yeah, and I hate the fact that they removed the status bar in FF4 too!

@LightStar - Just a suggestion for all of you:if you are running any kind of Windows O.S.(XP/Vista/7) 32bit machine, please download Pale Moon 4 http://www.palemoon.org ,optimized FF version for Windows (the x64 version will be available soon as well). On the Pale Moon website you can easily get every kind of info you want about.

I can tell you just that I'm using Pale Moon since a couple of years, and never got problems. All the best of FF,but a lot LIGHTER on resources(accessibility features and parental controls, that makes FF a lot heavy, has been removed. So,if you NEED that features, just use FF)  and QUICKER.

Besides,Pale Moon 4 keeps mostly of the interface design of FF 3.6.xx(but with all the new features,of course),status bar included, and there is no any kind of problem with WindowBlinds.

Just give it a try!

Are you clicking the little magnifier glass in the box? Mine works fine.

No guys I know how to use it. Like I said every version before this I had no problem with and it was like that before I installed google toolbar. Besides if I have to give up google toolbar I would not use it anyway. I like the convenience of the buttons which gives me things like spell check and much more.

What OS version you using?

All I can say is clicking on something in my history was coming up dead with version 4 but not version 3.6.

My ff4 doesn't have the problem you're describing, JC. Weird...

I'm not having any problem with it either.

Well, you suggested it initially to me Doc, and then a second suggestion here, so I thought I would try it out.  I think Firefox needs to hire whoever fixes their messes over at Pale Moon. :)

Well I found out what the problem is at least for some people. Here is the answer and I quote,

"When you attempt a search from the search box on your Toolbar it may not allow you to select items from your drop-down list of web history or search suggestions. As a workaround, try using your keyboard to navigate the drop-down list to select your web history or search suggestions."

In other words I could not click on the previous history from the drop down list with the mouse and have the page open but I can use the arrow keys and the enter key on the keyboard and it works just fine.

I am now using FireFox 4 again with google toolbar installed.
