How do I advance my Adventure level?

 

I've had games where I've researched the Adventure path a dozen times. All I managed to do is populate the world with high level chest and dungeons but I cannot access them because I'm only level 2.

 

How does that happen? I keep researching Adventure in hopes of getting my level up but I'm getting nowhere.

But once you learn how to advance your adventurer level, learn not to shortly after. The spawning of monsters is actually the best thing that comes from increasing level, since it's free experience. But it's much easier to get gobs of experience beating up pathetic enemies with 2x as high of a "score" as you.
